SafetyTat
Tat was born of necessity one weekend at an amusement park. On Labor Day Weekend, Michele (creator of SafetyTat) and her husband, there with their three small children, felt out-numbered. To stave her panic, she quickly wrote her mobile phone number on each of their arms with a ballpoint pen. As she did this, she thoughtfully explained to each of them the importance of staying close to Mommy and Daddy. She also told them that if they were separated that the number on their arm was a way to reconnect with them. Throughout the day of fun, Michele had to rewrite the number several times as it smeared or washed off. Several parents in the park, stopped her to ask if that was her number on the kids' arms. Each time, they loved the idea. The day was a success and the idea for SafetyTat was born.
The SafetyTat is removable! It is also latex free! It was extremely easy to put on! It is not like the old timey kid tattoos...this is more like a sticker! You just put the sticker on a clean dry spot on their arm and then lift the backing off! Then you use the pen included to write your phone number! It even stays in place when wet!
SafetyTat's retail at $9.95 for 6 tattoos!
Why We Love It:*Easy to apply and remove (latex free)
*Water proof
*Customizable
*Genius idea for theme parks, zoos, or even crowded shopping malls!
*Looks "cool" for the kids!

Most of the tips are things we already do, but I hadn't thought about bringing a photo - great idea!
Here's the actual tip:
Bring a Family Photo. (or TAT TIP take one with your cell phone the day of your trip!) This will make it easier for park security to locate your child. Take digital snaps of each of your kids right before you leave so you can show what they're wearing.

be stroller savvy--make your stroller distinguishable such as by tying a balloon. This is a good idea since I have the exact same stroller as three other neighbors! If I went to an amusement park, I'm sure there will be more!

Just an FYI: I try not to put my kids name anywhere on them, because from past personal experience (sadly) ... I have found that "bad people" try to lure kids in by knowing their name. This has happened 4 times in my extended family ... with varying consequences.
I prefer the other writer's idea of bringing a photo of your child with you to the park/etc. Great idea. Also, maybe tuck personal info into your childs pockets, and tell them that if they ever get lost, to show that paper to another Mommy or a police person.
Hope that helps,
Love,
Jodi

I think these are a great idea. Losing one of my kids is one of my greatest fears. I always make them hold my hand very tightly if we are someplace with crowds.
I also love the safety tip of taking a photo with your cell phone the day of the trip. You have a really current photo of your child and it will definitely be right there if you were to need it.

I truly never realized how many checmicals are in a sharpie and I think it's really smart to tell kids to go to woman because my very smart (ok I'm biased) 5 year old cannot defrentiate a store employee from another person. My son has gotten lost once in the city and the situation freaked us out. Now we write our numbers in his shoe and make sure to take pictures on our phones before we leave.
