The Best FREE iPhone Apps for Your Preschooler!
So I am a proud new iPhone owner! I don't know why I didn't get this thing sooner (actually, I do know why.. because they weren't on sale until now). One thing I have discovered is that it actually serves many purposes! One of those is entertaining and hepling to educate Graham. Here is a list of the FREE iPhone apps for preschool/toddler aged children that I think are worth the download!
1. Toddler Teasers Shapes. This one is my favorite! Graham loves this quizzing shapes game that rewards kids with "stickers" when they have completed certain levels. A voice asks the child to identify a certain shape. If the child selects the correct shape the name is announced and there is applause and hoorays! If the child selects the wrong shape the name is still announced and the shape disappears.
2. FirstWords Sampler. This app has the picture of the item that they are spelling. The child actually moves the mixed up letters into the matching blocks to spell out the word. A voice tells the letters and the word. There are 8 different words in the free version.
3.Elephant Song. This one is hilarious! It is a funny song that describes and illustrates different animals (in a backwards way). You can pause the song for some fun effects as well as put together a puzzle of the elephant at the end of the song.
4. Hatch. This game was created by a mom for the sole purpose of getting through the grocery store (I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to hand him the iPhone in the grocery store yet). It involves an egg that cracks every time you tap it to reveal a surprise! It goes on and on and on!
5. Animal Drop. It's like a puzzle on your iPhone. You drop the animals into their corresponding shadows! Once a match is made the animal makes its sound.
Does anyone else know of some great apps to use with toddlers or preschoolers that are FREE?

There's a free spongebob game on there too where you use your finger to tickle sponge bob and make him laugh. it keeps my 3yr old occupied for about 10 mins.

Youtube is a favorite here on the Touch, but there are so many great apps. Our nine month old and four year old can go forever watching clips. The four year old adds more free apps than anybody else in the house. The only issue is when he gets stuck on the "Gummibear song" or "We are the Champions" with the frog, after 6- 10 repeats it is time to move to outdoor playtime.

Did you get the 3GS with video? I've had my iPhone for about six months now, and I don't know how I survived without it. I use it for banking, making my to-do lists, entertainment, and even a traditional phone sometimes. LOL!
I have a couple of doodling apps for my boys, but I try to keep my phone away from them because they have their own toys. This one's mine. Hahaha.

I don't remember whether they are free or not, but our favorites are:
1. The shapes you mentioned. G asks for that one ALL THE TIME.
2. Bubble Snap. Bubble wrap for the iPhone? We all love it!
3. Wheels on the Bus by Duck Duck Moose. This one is an interactive book. It's another of G's favorites.
4. Memory Match by Jirbo. This is her other go-to game. A definitely favorite.
5. Lastly, Balloonimals. I know it's not free, but it's less than $4 (I think). You have to blow into your microphone to blow up the balloon, and then shake the phone to make the balloon animal. It's fun for more than just your preschooler.
Grace has pages of apps on my phone. I've also downloaded a couple of her favorite Wonder Pets episodes, and I use those as a last resort when we're out somewhere and I need her to be quiet and settled.
I don't know what we would do without my iPhone, either.
