Another Great Educational iPhone App: Itsy Bitsy Spider!

Sunday, November 01, 2009 Posted by Felicia

Life will never be the same for parents now that there is iPhone! Ok.. maybe that is exaggerating a bit, but honestly, it has come in handy so many times for me. We have several different games that will entertain Graham when he starts to get antsy on those long grocery store trips or even long car rides. We were fortunate enough to be able to review the new educational app out for kids by Duck Duck Moose called Itsy Bitsy Spider.

We had already tried the Old MacDonald app and were thoroughly impressed so when the opportunity arrived to try out the new game, I was so more than willing! Duck Duck Moose really put a lot of thought into this new game. Of course, the main theme is the Itsy Bitsy Spider and you even hear the song in the background (if you want to). This game is different from previous Duck Duck Moose games because it gives your child an even greater chance to get involved. What happens in the game is dependent upon how your child operates the different functions. You are taken on a journey with the spider up the water spout, back down, and into the sun in order to do it all over again! While you are on the journey there are several different lessons learned.

Poke the spider to go to different pages in the game while a fly narrates and gives different educational facts throughout the game (ex: what makes a rainbow). There is also a bit of an egg scavenger hunt that happens as your child plays. Make a little girl splash in the puddle, make a cloud rain as well as make the wind blow, count with a friendly squirrel, help a caterpillar become a butterfly, stack hats on the spider's head and so much more!

Honestly, Graham has been playing with this game for about 2 weeks and we still haven't discovered all that it can do! This would keep him entertained all day if I let him. For $.99 you really are getting a bargain! If you haven't checked out the rest of Duck Duck Moose's apps they definitely have quality ones to choose from. They were even nominated for iPhone Application Developer of the Year! Make sure to keep up with them on Twitter!

This post was written as part of a program for Family Review Network and Duck Duck Moose, who provided the application for review.

This is a lot of fun... I bought it for my phone, I like to play these games myself, to calm my mind down and relax...
    Thanks for the review.
