picpocketbookslogoGraham loves books and he also loves my iPhone, so why not put books on the iPhone for kids? That's just what PicPocket Books has done.

We were given the opportunity to review one of the many books that are available from PicPocket Books. I must say that I am extremely imprespicpocketwhatapestsed with the variety of books that are available for download. We downloaded Giant Earth movers from the Big Stuff series of books. Graham is very much into anything that is related to construction equipment so he has really enjoyed this book. It is like having a board book on your iPhone that is narrated by a child. It also helps build literacy because the words are still shown on the page and highlighted as the words are read. Your child can follow right along with the narrator. You can also stop the narration and move forward or backwards through the pages just like in a real story book. Simply tap the screen to pause the voice and use the arrows to move to the page you are looking for.

The pictures you see on your phone are the same ones you would see in the book. We have been very impressed with the overall quality of this application. It is wonderful to have learning on the go in the form of a book! Graham has several games that he loves to play on my iPhone, but this is nice when he just wants to relax with a story and I can't read to him (there are so many times when he just wants me to read to him while I am driving).

See it in Action (a little fuzzy because it is hard to video the iPhone).

The price is also a great deal! For $.99 to $3.99 you can have a quality children's book on your iPhone. This is much cheaper than purchasing the book and you don't have to worry about pages ripping! Make sure you check out the suggested ages for the book before you download just to make sure you are getting the right one for your little one (ages 2-8).
