Pocket Wally Sight Words for your iPhone

Graham has really been working on his sight words lately and I have been looking into different iPhone apps to help reinforce what he is learning. I really was not having a lot of luck finding what I was looking for and then Barry from Pocket Wally contacted me to let me know about his sight word application. I must say, it was definitely closer to what I was looking for than anything I have seen!

Right now, at 2 and 1/2, Graham is still a little young for this application. He definitely gets the concept, but I think he would enjoy it more if he was a little older. What I appreciate about this app is that the creators have done their homework. Sight words are best learned by repetition and this really gives your child some good practice with them. The words are taken from the Dolch Sight Words which are the ones that are most popular among preschools and kindergarten class rooms.

First your child will be introduced to a word. The word appears on the screen and then is heard audibly. There is a button on the bottom if your child would like to have the word repeated to them. Next, your child flicks the screen to the left and hears and sees the word used in a sentence. Your child simply touches the word in the sentence in order to move on. It really is a great way to reinforce what they may already be learning. After they have gotten 5 in a row correct they win and can "pick a prize"and it goes into their "prize bag".

Pocket Wally Sightwords can be purchased at the iTunes store for only $.99!

This application was provided free of charge by Pocket Wally. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.
