You All Are the Best!

You All Are the Best!

I just wanted to take a second and say thank you to everyone out there who has taken the time to stop by and check out Mom Time in '09! Piera and I are extremely overwhelmed by the response! If you are "following" me I am trying my hardest to get around to "following" you back! As most of you know, I also have a job outside of the home as a school counselor. I work part-time...but it might as well be full-time with all of the communication it takes from home to make it successful...so ... it takes me a little while sometimes to get around to some things! I also am STILL SICK with whatever it is that I have! Yes, I went to the doctor.. and yes I got some medicine to no avail!

Several of the giveaways have ended and winners have been posted on the original giveaway post! They have also been notified by email or through blogger! If there was a particular giveaway you were interested in you may want to check and see if it has ended. There were a couple of companies offering coupon codes (skeeda) if you want to purchase if you didn't win!

Because of all this I have been behind on posting awards and giving thanks to those who have given them! I am going to attempt to do that to the best of my ability right now! If I have missed someone I truly apologize.. and I surely tried to make it by your site and give you a personal thank you note! So... here they are:

From Heidi over at 1,2,3 Go!: The Lovey Award, and The Honest Scrap Award

From JamericanSpice and Sandy over at Organize with Sandy Reviews: The Fabulous Award

From Melinda over at Look What Mom Found: The Lemonade Award

Mom Time in '09 is ending next week and I just want to thank you all again and also say a huge thank you to any sponsors who may be reading this as well!

Glow Mama: Healthy Pregnancy and beyond!

Glow Mama: Healthy Pregnancy and beyond!

When I was pregnant I think I was the healthiest I have ever been in my life! There is something about knowing that you are responsible for every single thing that little life is going to have flowing through his bloodstream that makes you stop and think!

I tried to follow all the rules on what to eat and what not to eat. I took and still take my pre-natal vitamin religiously. I was also always on the look out for any thing that would give myself and my growing baby a healthy boost! Well, I wish I had known about Glow Mama when I was pregnant or still nursing!

If you haven't heard of Glow Mama by now, let me tell you a little bit about it. Glow Mama is a refreshing drink that was designed with pregnant and nursing moms in mind. It is healthy for all moms (even if you aren't pregnant or nursing)!

Glow Mama is made with real kiwi juice, 4 grams of fiber and essential pre/post natal vitamins. It is completely natural, low in calories and approved by the American Pregnancy Association!

Lucy, the founder of Glow Mama started it because of her own pregnancy. When she was pregnant with her son Liam, she too gave up the caffeine and food additives to find healthier alternatives. When she started eating a lot of kiwi and vitamin C the "you're glowing" compliments started coming in! That's when the idea hit her and the rest is history!

Glow Mama has a light taste that is great room temperature of chilled. There are also a ton of yummy looking recipes for different drink combinations on the Glow Mama website! These would make an excellent shower or "congratulations on being pregnant" gift! You can try out Glow Mama right with a one week sampler pack for less than $20!

SPINLASH: Motorized Mascara

SPINLASH: Motorized Mascara

Ok.. I am always totally honest with you all especially on these products. So, I have to have a disclaimer on this one: I already have pretty long eyelashes so I can't truly vouch for for how LONG they may make your eyelashes look. But, length is not one of the claims of this product anyway!

What SPINLASH prides itself on is the ability to create volume, separate lashes, and curl them! I'm not sure what the issue is with my eyelashes, but I have never had any luck getting them to curl at all! They literally rub against my sun glasses when I blink! I have tried the eye lash curlers and different tips and tricks with no avail.

The think I noticed about SPINLASH was the IMMEDIATE curl of my lashes! This product almost acts like a mini curling iron for the lashes. It honestly does separate, curl, and leave you with more volume. SPINLASH works with a battery and one simple button. You press the button in the direction you need SPINLASH to spin and let it spin up from root to tip. The rotating mechanism works gently and slowly! I was very nervous at first to try it...but when I pressed the button to test it out I was pleasantly surprised at the speed.

See it in Action for Yourself:

video

Right now, SPINLASH retails for $19.99 for two! There are two colors to choose from: Black or Brownish Black. You can also use your own mascara with SPINLASH.

Mother and daughter team Helena and Calire Steele are the master minds behind these fabulously designed aprons. Helena had been collecting 20th Century vintage aprons for years when she decided it would be a great idea to offer the charm of these aprons to the 21st Century! When her vision was revealed to her daughter they were both ready for the challenge to bring the fun of hostess party back!

In the seven years since they've launched the niche of nostalgic apron fashion, Jessie Steele fine hostess aprons have been sold in over 3000 stores, appeared on such hit television shows as Oprah and Desperate Housewives, and have been featured in numerous national magazines and newspapers.

LTDChix: T-Shirts for moms like you!

LTDChix: T-Shirts for moms like you!

As a mom, have you ever thought, "Hey, this isn't quite what I thought I signed up for?"

LTDChix (Living The Deam) is another wonderful company founded by moms! It all started in 2006 when Cindi Schmitzer and Nina Frye decided to come up with alternative and fun wear for families! Cindi is a former financial analyst for Playtex and current mother of four! Nina was an account executive at a Fortune 100 company before her three kids came along.

These shirts are 100% cotton and have the funniest illustrations depicting daily trials of today's Mom! There is everything from a mom with a pile of laundry, a mom driving her van full of kids, to a mom exercising with her kid hanging from the tread mill! There is sure to be a design that depicts your life!

I had the opportunity to try the Laundry T-shirt in Sherbert! Not only is the picture hilarious (and completely an under statement of my laundry), but the shirt is probably one of the most comfortable T-shirts that I own! The length is perfect ( I have a thing with shirts being long enough). I am not pulling it down all the time during the day! It also washes well.

These shirts are extremely affordable and would make an excellent gift for that special mom in your life! The prices start at $15 and you can purchase them online. They are "a fun way for us to laugh at ourselves and at the wacky situations we find ourselves in on a daily basis" (Schmitzer of LTDChix).

Make TIME for your kids!

Make TIME for your kids!

By now, everyone has gotten used to the idea of "Mom Time in '09," but the counselor and genuine mom in me is coming out! I do not think we can talk about Mom Time without talking about the very important time you should be spending with your children.

Just tonight I was having a discussion with a friend at church about how the kids truly are different these days. There seems to be a total lack of respect among too many children now. I see it every day. Now, don't get me wrong, there are still plenty of wonderful kids out there. But, this brought up an important point: We have to spend REAL time with our kids!

Think about how many hours a day are spent on school, sports, the arts or other activities and then think about how much time you spend working on your child's character. Makes you pause doesn't it? Some people may say, "Well, I lead by example and that's enough," but let's be honest with ourselves, how much "good character" is beaming through us on a daily basis? Enough for your little one to pick up on how to share, be honest, be kind, or be respectful? Maybe...but...there has to be an extra concentrated effort on building moral character!

There are many teachable moments throughout your day (Your son is loyal to his friends, but when they cheat on a test does he tell?). We have to make sure that we are being available enough to our kids that we are able to pick up on these "teachable moments" so we can help guide them through. If we aren't spending REAL time...how will we ever know?

We can't sit back and let the school's character education program teach our kids! We have to be proactive and spend time working on these skills daily!

Here is a resource that will hopefully help to guide your though. It is a FREE newsletter called Life's Building Blocks Life Lessons Guide. It is here to help guide parents through some of the challenges that we all face. They have character and child development experts to provide current and applicable advice that every parent can use.

I hope you find the information useful and will share it with others who can benefit as well and enjoy the REAL time and "teachable moments" you spend with your children. They grow up way to fast!

What's a DAME to Do?! Fun Game for the Gals!

What's a DAME to Do?! Fun Game for the Gals!

My husband LOVES Yahtzee. You know, the game that involves numbers and WAY to many of them? Seriously, I have NEVER won the game....ever, what's a dame to do? Well, I've found a new game that is just my style and it is called just that, "What's a DAME to do?!".

This new game for dames is hysterical! How many times have you talk to your girlfriends about awkward situations or dilemmas and how they would handle them? That's what this game is all about! The best part is that it gets all of your girlfriends involved with the search for the answer...comically speaking of course! You can even award your friends for coming up with the most hilarious response! What a wonderful opportunity to put your girlfriend intuition to work!

This game needs 2-8 players that are around 17 years old or older and doesn't involve anything high tech to work out! Even more, you can simply go to the website to view an instructional video on how to play the game instead of reading the instructions! Thank you!

See it in Action:

I can't wait until some more gals I know get married so I can bring this to their bridal parties! This would also make a great GNO (Girls' Night Out) idea!

What's a DAME to do retails for about $34 and can be purchased online and at Amazon. Check out the website for more locations!

Handy Hold All: Organize in Style!

Handy Hold All: Organize in Style!

I am a lover of organizational products. I also am a lover of hand bags! My husband is always after me to "go through" my bags and get rid of some! "But what if I NEED it for something!" I had a storage bin I kept them in...until...the Handy Hold All!

Sarah Shaw is the creator behind this genius device! Not only did she come up with the handy hold all, she also creates her own fabrics! Before she started designing items to make our lives easier, she made costumes for movies such as "Ocean's 11" in her made-to-order costume company, Raggs to Order. Sarah left costuming and started Sarah Shaw Handbags, which rapidly grew, soon selling to over 600 stores nationwide! Simply Sarah was born after she realized that there was so much more left to create!

The Handy Hold All has 7 hanging loops with snaps. Each snap can hold 2-4 items! It even comes with Simply Sarah's own over the door hook! Not only can you hold purses, but it is also great for baseball caps, belts, scarves....the list goes on! I have mine hanging on the back of our bedroom door so that it is out of sight but convenient!

The Handy Hold All is also very affordable retailing for $30! Sarah has also generously offered Go Graham Go readers a 50% discount between now and 2/28/09 with code: gograham

It's Not..wait...it IS Easy Being "Green": Mom Time in '09 Question #3

It's Not..wait...it IS Easy Being "Green": Mom Time in '09 Question #3

You pretty much can't go anywhere, watch anything without hearing the word "green" lately. It is with great reason that this color is receiving such recognition! We all know that our Earth is fragile and continues to deteriorate. Piera and I started to become more concerned about this issue when our sons were born. We are realizing that we want our children to have the same opportunities that we had growing up!

So, the third Mom Time in '09 question is being posed: "What are some simple things you do to live green?"

Sometimes when you think about "living green" it can be confusing and possibly overwhelming. We want to hear from you and gain your wisdom and tips to share amongst us all! Each question that you blog about with an answer AND link to Go Graham Go AND Jolly Mom will earn you 5 extra entries any way you want to use them (5 on one giveaway or 1 on five separate giveaways). Because there will be four, you have the opportunity to earn up to 20 extra entries! Just enter: "Live Green" in your comments!

So here's what we do:

I know in our household there are a million things that we could be doing, but we have to take it one step at a time!

The first thing we have started doing is replacing all of our old light bulbs with the energy efficient ones. They can be quite expensive, so we do it as the old bulbs die. So far we have about half the house converted!

We also purchased a high efficiency washer last year (hallelujah).

Another thing we TRY to do (my husband is going to laugh at me when he reads this) is turn lights out when we are not in the room. I am notorious for leaving EVERY single light on in the house! It is mostly because I LOVE light!! But, I know that it is a huge waste... so I am trying to cut back.

We also do simple things like turn the water off when we are brushing our teeth or rinsing dishes. So, these aren't huge things. They are simple, small, easy steps! It IS easy being "Green".

Whatcha talkin' bout Kermit?!

Green Chic Bags: Beautiful Bags, Green Concious

Green Chic Bags: Beautiful Bags, Green Concious

Did you know that:
~The average American uses 316 plastic bags each year
~Every year 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are used and throw out
~Plastic bags are not biodegradable, they break down into tiny toxic particles that infiltrate our waterways and soil.
~Plastic bags are a huge culprit of beach litter~Stores will pay YOU to bring your own bag (Average 0.05 per bag)
~Many stores will be charging YOU the consumer for paper and plastic bags beginning January 2009!
(Facts from Green Chic Bag Co.)

When I came across the Green Chic Bag Company I fell in love! We all know that the time is coming when we will HAVE to bring our own grocery bags to the grocery store. Soon, it will be a requirement or we will be charged. Many stores have already started this. So, we need bags that can stand the test and last us for years to come!

The Green Chic Bag Company has quality bags at a great price! I love that the bags even have a water resistant lining to help with anything that may leak! They handles are nice and sturdy! The Green Chic Bag is also extremely roomy and machine washable. And if that wasn't enough....THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL! Thank you Green Chic Bags for creating a stylish alternative to reusable grocery bags!

I also love to use this bag as my library bag for all of Graham's books! There are so many uses! Sometimes I will use it to hold his toys when we are visiting friends as well.

Let's face it, we are ALL going to need some of these for grocery shopping, so why not buy some that are sturdy and stylish at the same time and save your money in the long run! The Green Chic Bags start at $29.95! A great deal when you start adding up all the money you will spend on the $1 ones after the wear out in a week!

JUST BE: Apparel to show who you are!

JUST BE: Apparel to show who you are!

"The idea behind Just Be is that it is a state of mind, way of life, and a philosophy. "

The idea came to Michelle when she was teaching to a local art college. The class project was to create T-shirts and they toured the facility that did the digital screen printing. The owner approached Michelle one day about designs for T-shirts and her idea for Just Be came about!

Michelle has taken this wonderful company and turned it into a community! You can interact and participate in the creation of Just Be gear by suggesting sayings and sharing your Just Be stories online! Just Be was selected to participate in the "Back to School Celebrity Kids Gift Bags."

Each item has its own Just Be saying and comes with selections for the entire family--men, women, kids and infants! The line is expanding to include items such as bibs, bags, and more!

I was honored to try out the Be Sweet shirt! I love the fit of the shirt and that it is made from combed, 100% cotton (super soft and comfy)! Just look at the print! It also comes in a great length! I love the "feel" of all of her designs! Some (like mine) were inspired by vintage poster designs or styles from the 1920s to the 1980s--from art deco to pop art to punk! These would make an excellent gift idea for anyone of any age!

I can't wait to see what she has in store next...maybe it will be inspired by YOU!

The Couponizer: Organize and Save!

The Couponizer: Organize and Save!

I have found an answer to my money saving prayers! The Couponizer! This fabulous organizational tool helps you SAVE MONEY! I honestly get frustrated with coupons because of the hassle of keeping up with what is what and where to file it. When you get frustrated, you stop clipping and you stop saving!

Amy Bergin is the mom behind this genius idea! She took what every money saving mom is looking for and made it easy! With the help of her husband, she has created a successful product!

Here's how it works:

First you clip your coupons. Sunday's paper is a great place to find those. Also, if you haven't done it, sign up for the mailing lists of your favorite stores! They generally send out coupons!

Next you pull out the convenient CoupStacker that allows you to pre-sort your coupons by categories.

Once you have your coupons sorted, you file them into the Pre-labeled category pockets. I love the labels as well! You can tell a mom made this! Great thinking!

Here's where it takes it a step further than a regular coupon book......

There is a section to file the coupons that will expire this month so that you are sure to use them before they are bad! The "Coupons to be used on this shopping trip" organizes you before you arrive at the store. There is also a "Checkout" pocket for you to place all of your coupons that you plan on using on the shopping trip saving you and all the people behind you in the line valuable time!

If that's not enough to make you want to buy it right now, Amy also includes a handy bag for your Couponizer to protect it. You can store it in your car so that you are sure to always have it with you!
The Couponizer retails for $19.95!

Nurse Purse: Keep your baby content while nursing!

Nurse Purse: Keep your baby content while nursing!

For those of you who have nursed you know that it is such a bonding and comforting experience! As baby grows, sometimes they form their own self soothing techniques. Graham used to love to rub my back. He would also sometimes start rubbing my face. I know some women who have long hair and their babies would play with their hair.

The Nurse Purse is ideal for these occasions! It helps your baby have something to focus on while nursing to keep the soothed and content! The necklace was created by Lori from Risky Beads at Etsy! Just stash this 3" x 2.5" purse in your diaper bag or purse, and then don't worry about it again. When it's time to nurse, you're good to go! The pendant is long enough to slip over your head, and the length can be adjusted by sliding the knots.
The pendant is made from a 30mm carnelian oval donut, dark brown waxed cotton cord, and ceramic spacers. The 'purse' in the The Nurse Purse was made by jennyndesign at Etsy. Jennyndesigns makes gorgeous handmade bags for men and women!

The Nurse Purse retails for about $14 and comes in several different colors! This would make an excellent baby shower gift or hospital present. The necklace is such high quality that you will hang on to it forever and wear it daily...you might not need the purse!

Lori also sells such beautiful handmade jewelry! She even makes items for the kids! You have got to check her out!

Cover "It" Up with Hip-T!

Cover "It" Up with Hip-T!

Because I work in the school system I am extra sensitive to what I wear! I want to make sure I look appropriate in all situations...even when I am squatting on the floor or bending to pick up something! You never know who might be behind you in a school full of 1500 people!

The Hip-T is the answer to the problem of the low-rise jean crisis! It seems like there is no getting away from the low-rise or mid-rise jean, so, those of us with fashion sense, cover ourselves with a long camisole! If you are wearing anything slimming, you know that the camisole can sometimes bunch and add extra layers where you don't want them. This is where the Hip-T comes in!

The Hip-T is just what it says: a t-shirt that only fits on your hips! You can now cover up your lower half without having the bulky shirts undernearth! Just step into the Hip-T and shimmy it up over your hips! I love it because it adds extra length to shirts that have shrunken over months of washing. The Hip-T also adds a little character to your clothes! There are a variety of styles and colors to choose from and retails at about $19.95!

It's Not Over!

It's Not Over!

Piera, from Jolly Mom and I wanted to take today to say a big, heartfelt Thank You to all of YOU for visiting our blogs, entering the contests for Mom Time in '09, and helping to spread the word! We are hosting Mom Time in '09 for YOU, all of the moms out there that deserve to Take Time for themselves.

We want you guys to reflect on how truly important it is that we take care of ourselves as much as we care for our kids, our husbands, our families, and our friends. You know how on airplanes they always tell you to put the oxygen mask on YOU before your child? If we, as moms are not healthy and vibrant and happy, how can we care for those we love? This is a lesson that all moms struggle with, including Piera and me.

We hope that you are having fun at the PARTY and are loving the contests! Every product that we are giving away was handpicked by either Piera or me because we thought it would bring something positive into your lives. If any of the sponsors are reading right now, Piera and I want to say THANK YOU for your generosity and allowing us to bring wonderful products to our readers! We thank you and I know our readers do too!

Today we have decided to take the day off because we are pooped-and I am sick with a sinus infection. We still have A LOT to come...we're not even half way done so gear up because the party is not over yet! We'll be back on Sunday with yet another review and giveaway for Mom Time in '09!

Get Peek: Get Email on the Go!

Get Peek: Get Email on the Go!

I have a new friend, his name is Peek and he is blue! No, he isn't a smurf he is the latest in technology for those of us who are not "techy"!

Peek is email on the go! When my Peek first arrived I was so nervous about how long it was going to take me to set it up (if I could set it up at all)! No worries! I literally entered my email address and password and I was emailing within minutes! Peek is also extremely user friendly, like I said earlier, it is not made for people looking for a technological challenge! It's simply email!

I also love how affordable Peek is! You can purchase the device for $79.95 and service is only $19.95 per month with NO CONTRACTS! You also receive nationwide coverage with Peek!

The Peek is thinner than my cell phone (.42 inches thick and 2.7 inches wide) and fits in my pocket easily! The battery stays charged for about 3 days depending on usage. It features a keypad that looks like your keyboard and handy buttons on the side to assist navigation. It also has a large screen that makes viewing easy. Peek works by connecting to cell phone towers!

You can purchase Peek online or at Target stores!
