Wordless Wednesday: What I've been living on...

Wednesday, February 24, 2010 Posted by Felicia

First of all, you must know that I am an AVID water drinker (or was).  This pregnancy is making me weird!  I still drink water, but only because I HAVE to and it makes me sick.  What I really want is to drink root beer all day.  You think my baby will be ok? lol!

LOL! I didn't drink any soda when I was pregnant, but I could eat 3 custard filled donuts in one sitting!

That's so funny. I was the same way - water made me gag, but I totally got into root beer when I was pregnant with my son. Most is caffeine free so I didn't feel guilty, and it tasted delish!

I'm sure it'll be okay! lol. With my first, all I wanted was orange soda-all the time!

I don't drink that and can't see why anyone likes it. To me it tastes like toothpaste. lol

    However dh loves it!

Here is the thing. With my first child. I loved water!

With the second. I had to FORCE myself to drink water! It was so weird.

So yes, force yourself to drink it :)

My mom drank a ton of root beer while she was pregnant with me! As far as I know...the only side effect is that I HATE root beer!

I think you'll be fine and baby too.

Well then if it's a boy you're gonna have to name him Barq and if it's a girl, Sassafras!

Girl, I know EXACTLY what you mean. I always crave soda when I pregnant and this time is no exception. I've been trying to be better because I know that's what attributed to my crazy weight gain with both girls. I drank gallons of Sprite with them. This time, I've been doing better with the occasional Izze soda, but I've been drinking lots of seltzer h2o/club soda because I crave the carbonation.

    Hope you're feeling well! :-)

You and baby will be just fine! So weird what pregnancies do.

Hey at least you chose something that is caffeine free! I craved root beer when I was pregnant with my first. With this baby I want coke, which is not good since it has caffeine, but seems to be helping my morning sickness...go figure! My doc (with a previous pregnancy) actually recommended coke when my stomach was upset.

That does look pretty good right now..

That's too funny! Nope, won't hurt your baby - might make him/her not like root beer, though! :) When I was pregnant with Princess Nagger, I craved peanut butter sandwiches (no jelly)... PN doesn't like peanut butter sandwiches - only likes jelly ones! :)

I was very similiar!! We don't even have soda/carbonated drinks in the house (Unless there is a stomach virus)!!

But when preggo this time I was drinking Sprite constantly! It really was the only thing that "tamed" the nauseau for me. So I'd drink some as I thought about eating and then by the time the meal was prepared I could usually handle eating!

I was VERY fortunate that it was the vitamin I was taking... a little change up and I was good to go:)

So excited you are preggo:) I love seeing families grow:)

Water always grossed me out when I was pregnant, too. I could never relate to the pregnant women who drank gallons of it. I think the important thing is just to keep drinking fluids. Check out your root beer. Some root beers have caffeine, which you should avoid.

You can't deny yourself when you're having cravings. You're drinking lots of water too so I say go for it!

LOL, I had the same aversion to water when I was pregnant. I added a little amount of country time lemonade mix each time. It made it taste better, but it was really watered down so I wasn't drinking too much sugar.

That's funny because that's all I wanted to drink when I was pregnant with Isaak. I'm a water drinker too. At least this soda doesn't have loads of caffeine in it.

First LOL you had me wondering til I scrolled down!

    Happy WW!

This sounds so familiar! I did ginger ale for weeks 6-8, and then one day I wanted to vomit when I thought of ginger ale, and it was root beer or bust from that point forward! Ha!

  23. Mama Michie (aka Michaela) said...

Oh- now I want some too! I only drink sprite, but there are times when I really... really crave it too.

  24. Mellisa Rock said...

I hope that the water making you sick part passes -- but I don't think a little root beer ever hurt anyone. :) Throw in a little ice cream and you got a party! Happy WW!

  25. Carolyn G said...

Well if you are going to get cravings, Root beer is a good thing.

  26. sunnymama said...

Sounds like a great craving! Happy Ww :)

LOL! YUM! The baby will be fine-and happy! :)

  28. Jennifer said...

The baby will be fine. When I was pregnant with the twins water grossed me out.

  29. Krystyn said...

I totally wanted rootbeer with my first daughter. She's perfectly fine! Enjoy it. (I just made sure it was A&W because it doesn't have caffeine).

  30. Simply Being Mommy said...

LOL! I'm sure baby will be okay!

  31. Danielle (Life with the Hewitt Family) said...

At least most root beers don't have caffeine! Drink it up girl! I am curious to see if the little one will love or hate root beer when he/she is older.

  32. Cascia said...

There is no caffeine in Root Beer so you and your baby will be just fine. I wouldn't worry about it so much. If you are craving it then there might be something in Root Beer that your body needs. I'd worry if you started craving dirt or cigarette butts. Some women have very strange cravings.

When I was pregnant with our daughter I was the same way...always wanted root beer and couldn't stand water (but drank it because I knew I should). :) With our son....I couldn't get enough water and hardly ever craved pop. Weird what pregnancy does.

I love rootbeer! I haven't had it for so long.

  35. The Blue Zoo said...

mmmm! Yum. Gotta add some vanilla ice cream to that root beer!

Love A&W!!! Delicious! Baby will be fine drink away

I agree with everyone, I think you and baby should be fine... "she" may get the hiccups though, which might be uncomfortable for you. :-)

  38. Tara @ Feels like home said...

You know what I drank when I was pregnant? Mountain Dew and Pepsi. How bad is that? I was so sick the whole time, and the bubbles felt good in my throat. My daughter turned out fine, but I would try to avoid that if there's a next time.

    Listen to your body. :)

As long as its decafe! Should be no problem!

ROFL! I can SO relate, although for me nothing sounds very good to drink, even root beer. =)

I can totally relate - I wanted Coca Cola all the time!! It was so frustrating that they do not have caffeine free out at restaurants.
