Have a Date Night Again. HiveMoms!
This past September I met an energetic, friendly, and highly intelligent woman named Kareen. She was at the Type-A Mom Conference and told me all about an idea she had that has since become a reality. The outcome is HiveMoms, a community of moms and dads helping each other!
We are so fortunate to live near friends and family members who can help us out if we are ever in a pinch when it comes to child care. My mother is currently unemployed so she watches Graham for us. The problem is, because she watches Graham so much, we hate to call on her just to have a date night. We have one other close friend that watches Graham for us if I have doctors or dentist appointments so we hate to call on her just to go out as well. It is hard to find people you trust to watch your kids and it is even harder when you are new to an area or not involved in the community.
How HiveMoms works.
First you register for a FREE membership online. Check out the Co-Ops already listed and see if any of them fit your need. If not, create your own! You can invite a few friends that you already know and trust or maybe a few family members to join your Co-Op. Once you have it set up you can start posting favors. For each favor there is a section to give a title, the date, and time. You can then feel out the details and offer "Favor Points". You earn Favor Points by helping out others on HiveMoms. Once you receive responses you can decide who you would like to have help you.

How about PlayDates?
Maybe you just need to find out where you can connect with other parents who have children the same age. You can list your groups and PlayDates at HiveMoms as well. How exciting it would be to turn your time at the park walking/strolling from one friend to several new ones. I know that I seem to learn the most by having PlayDates with friends so that we can connect and share tips and ideas with each other.
I think HiveMoms is an extremely valuable resource for parents across the US. What a great concept that we can all connect in one place and find the help that we need. After all, it takes a village to raise a child!

I have friends who do this, but without a website. How cool that someone created one! I've been wanting to do co-op but didn't want to do all the work. Now I don't have to!
