Ziploc: Making Life Easier

Before Davis was born I stocked up on the quart sized Ziploc freezer bags in order to store my breast milk in the most cost effective manner. I use ice cube trays to freeze the milk (each cube holds approximately .5 to 1 ounce of milk). Once it is frozen I label the freezer bags and store it in the back of our freezer. I have also had to rely on the freezer bags to put away the waffles I make ahead of time. I make them on the nights when I have had enough rest and freeze them. That way when Graham is up at 6:30 am and starving, I can just pop them in the toaster.
We have also been blessed to have so many families bring us meals. We have had so much that we have used MANY Ziploc storage containers to keep the leftovers. This has helped us save money and time (both are desperately needed)!

I get the large economical packs of either ground beef or chicken and break them up into smalller size packages, freezing them in quart size ZipLoc bags.

I like the quart size freezer bags. I have a favorite muffin recipe that I like to make in the mornings. All summer long I buy berries cheaply and freeze them in the amount the recipe calls for. All I have to do is grab a bag, and I have fruit muffins all winter.

When painting, if I need to continue the next day, I put the paint brush(without cleaning it) in a ziplock bag and put it in the freezer. The next day I take it out a 1/2 hr. before using and then it's ready.

MY fave way is for freezer storage of meats I separate (buy in bulk) for each use... but my most creative way is using them as frosting bags and inserting my pipings for a fancy cupcake decoration!

Two of the things I was going to say you brought up. Storing breast milk in them and holding puzzle pieces (I've done both). I also harvest herbs, and store them in ziploc bags. I dry a lot so I have it to use during the winter.

I love the gallon size. The regular close top is ok, but the zip is the best and easy to use. I love to buy sour dough french bread and cut in half and put in these bags for freshness. Works great. Always loved ziploc brand. Thank you from cat4short@hotmail.com

I usually buy the freezer bags because they're a little thicker and then wash and re-use them. I hate to throw them away after only one sandwich or snack was in them!

Thank you for the giveaway. We use Zip Loc bags for so many things but, one of our favorite ways to use them is making homemade ice cream for treats.
In 1 gallon bag add 5 cups ice and 1 cup rock salt for ice cream
In quart size bag add:
1 cup whole milk
3-4 TS sugar
Vanilla extract to your liking
Tightly close the quart size zip loc and place into the gallon bag of ice/salt mixture. Zip the gallon sized bag closed with most of the air let out. Finally, shake the bags until ice cream forms! It's delicious, try it! My kids love making this.

We use the quart-sized bags to hold my 3 year old's puzzles (since she always manages to break the boxes). The only problem is that since she's seen us do it, she'll go in to the drawer when I'm not watching and just "store" random toys in the bags.

I guess the quart size bags would be my favorite, since I certainly use enough of them. I buy meat in bulk when it is one sale, then divide it up into meal size amounts, freeze in quart bags which are double protected in an outside covering of a gallon bag.

most of the time I use the freezer bags for huge amounts of cookies that I give to people as presents but my most creative use of ziploc stuff would probably be for carrying around clay things that I've made, different art supplies, or beads I make keychains with every once in a while

I like the Big Bags. When my daughter comes home from college for the sumemr, I wash her bedding and place it a a big bag and seal it up. It's ready to go back with her. I also use one to pack her pillows in. Thanks!

I use zip lock slider bags to organize my extra coupons. I use a different bag for each category and then put them all in a shoebox. woowoogirl at msn dot com
