"Step into Summer": Pool Party Toss by Prime Time Toys
One thing we splurged on this summer was an above ground pool. Not an expensive one mind you, just one that can serve the purpose of keeping a pregnant momma cool and a 3 year old happy! We figured since we were not going on a vacation this summer that this would be a good idea. I have been thankful for the times spent getting cool and having fun with Graham.
We were sent the Pool Party Toss by Prime Time Toys for review last week and we have been having a blast with it! You may be familiar with some of the other Prime Time Toys. You have probably either seen them or played with them yourself at the pool! I know that the pool we went to a few weeks ago had a ton of Prime Time Toys floating around!
Pool Party Toss is a "target" game for the pool. Of course, when you have a 3 year old, you just try to get the Splash Bomb Bags into the target from as far away as possible. If you have older kids or adults you could really make a game out of it. There are two yellow and two blue Splash Bomb Bags included so that you could form two separate teams if you wanted to. The target floats, of course, so it makes it a little more challenging! If you decide that a game of target is not what you want to do, you can always throw the splash bombs at each other to create big splashes and waves (that seems to be Graham's favorite game when I don't want to be wet)!
You can purchase Pool Party Toss for about $25-$30. This could be fun at either the public pool or your private summer pool parties!
This product was provided free of charge by Prime Time Toys. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

Easy Baby Back Ribs Recipe
I had never cooked baby back ribs in my life until last week. When my mother sent over a link describing some awesome BOGOs at Harris Teeter, I couldn't pass up the buy one get one free baby back ribs. My husband loves them and I was determined to cook them! It turns out that they are easier to cook than you would think. I found this simple recipe online that literally has the meat falling off the bones! Keep in mind, this does take some preparation ahead of time in order to marinate the ribs.

What you Need:
Baby Back Ribs
BBQ sauce
Cooking Spray
Aluminum Foil
Preparation:
The night before you cook these you will need to lay out aluminum foil, spray it well with cooking spray, place the ribs on top and brush them in the BBQ sauce. Wrap the aluminum foil tightly around the ribs and place in the fridge for 8 hours or overnight. When you are ready to cook you want to preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Cook at 300 for 2 1/2 hours. Once they are finished you can add more sauce if you need the extra flavor.

These were so good that Graham ate his entire plate (and he isn't a big meat eater).

"Step into Summer": Skin Free for Delicate Skin
Just call me a paranoid mama. I really am cautious of the things I put on my skin when I am pregnant. I figure, my skin is the largest organ on my body, so it must be important to try and put less chemicals on it! When I was pregnant with Graham I even resorted to the most natural make up I could find.
Skin Free sent over a few samples of their products for review a few weeks ago. I must say, I am extremely impressed with how nice all of the products have been on my skin. Typically, when I have used more natural skin products they have left my skin feeling dry. I was able to sample the Super Moisture Body Balm, After Shower Moisture Spritz, Niaouli Butter Stick, and a bar of the Extra Moisturizing Soap.
My favorite product out of the four, hands down, is the Super Moisture Body Balm! With my ever growing pregnant belly I need something that is more than just your every day lotion. I absolutely love this stuff! You only have to use a few drops for it to do the trick. The Super Moisture Body Balm is made with 100% butters and natural oils. When you first put it on you think it is going to be greasy, but after about a minute your skin soaks it right up. My skin feels moisturized the entire day. I actually just got out of the pool and my skin still feels great. I also love the price tag of this one: $12.99. You really can't buy a good lotion now days for less than $10 and to know that this one is all natural is even better.

My entire family has used all of the products and we have all been satisfied. I actually let Graham use the bar soap and the Niaouli Butter Stick. He loves bar soaps and I always have to buy the soaps from our local organic grocery store because of his skin sensitivities. This soap has worked wonderfully on him! Graham loves the Niaouli Butter Stick because it is easy for him to put on. I have also used the Niaouli Butter Stick on my belly for even more moisture during the day.
Overall, Skin Free has proven to be a great resource for our family's sensitive and delicate skin. I would have no problem telling my friends about this company. In fact, if you have sensitive skin, are expecting, or just like natural products, I would encourage you to try it out (start with the Super Moisture Body Balm)!
This product was provided free of charge by Skin Free. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

...Now onto the bathroom!
This post is not about going to the bathroom...it is about the fact that we need to refinish our bathroom! Matthew has just about completed the baby's new room and now I have "refinishing fever". My husband is probably going to run and hide when he sees this post! I know it is frustrating for him to be the only one in this house that can do any type of physical labor. I mean, I can do some things, but not a ton with this huge belly! I tried to put together a book shelf two days ago and it took me an hour to put in two screws because of my belly! I finally called my dad for help (thank you dad)!
Anyway, I would love for the tiny bathroom that these two boys will be sharing to work better for them. I am trying to figure out a way to combine hampers and come up with a theme that is boy, but not kid. Does that make sense? I would also love to have a new vanity in the bathroom that is a bit smaller than the one we currently have. That is FAR down the road though. For now, I will settle on better organization, new paint, and a good cleaning of the tub!

Does anyone have any suggestions for a great bath toy storage product? I feel like I have looked at them all and see a negative in each. What are your favorites? Also, how are you organizing your kids bathrooms? Help please!

DIY Gentle Bug Spray
There is a wealth of knowledge at the high school I work for. When ever I have a gardening question I either go to my parents or to the Horticulture teacher! It really is nice having all this free information! Anyway, my last question to the Horticulture teacher before we left for the summer was what was his advice for a more gentle bug spray for our plants. In particular, we have aphids... tons! Well, I am here to show you that it is so simple and cheap that even Graham can make it!

What you need:
Liquid Dish Soap
Water
Spray Bottle
Preparation:
Simply fill the bottle with a little water and add about 2 squirts of the liquid dish soap. Fill the bottle to the top with more tap water and swirl to mix. I use a 32 ounce spray bottle and only use 2 squirts of the dish soap. You may want to use less if you have a smaller bottle.
Instructions:
Cover the plants leaves generously making sure to cover the top and bottom of the leaves. You will probably need to repeat this about once a week or more often if it rains. This is great for getting rid of those pesky aphids!

"Step into Summer": NEW LeapFrog Leapster Explorer
I am the first to admit that I am not a big promoter of video games for kids, especially young kids. I am however, a HUGE fan of all things LeapFrog. I have never owned a LeapFrog product that has not been a hit with Graham. My niece even owns the LeapFrog DIDJ and has been named number 1 out of all of the 5th graders at her school because of her multiplication skills!
We were sent the Leapster Explorer about a month and a half ago for review and review we have! Graham has been playing the thing to death! If you want to know about wear and tear this thing is durable. It has been to Macon, Ga and back, Cincinnati and back, and has been toted outside, inside, and every where in between. The Leapster Explorer is meant for children ages 4-8, but Graham is a pro with it at age 3. I will say, he was pretty prepared for this game system because he plays iPhone games frequently. So far, we have only had to change the batteries once (4 AA).

The Leapster Explorer works by using a touch screen. This is such a wonderful touch because it allows younger children greater ease with playing. Using a touch screen is just so much more intuitive than using buttons and controls. Besides, with the popularity of the iPhone and other touch screen phones, young kids already have experience. Of course, with the Leapster Explorer your child is learning while they are having fun. Some of Graham's favorite games are: Sugar Bugs, Jewel Train, Harmonies, Pet Pad, Mr. Pencil Saves Doodleburg and watching LeapFrog's Letter Factory. Each game teaches things such as good dental habits, matching, harmonies in music, drawing lines and letters, and much more. Of course, there are cartridge games that you can purchase as well. You will be excited to know that Toy Story 3 is one of the games! I really love the fact that you can download e-Books that work like the Tag Reader. You swipe the lines of text into the reader and press the book icon for the words to be read out loud and highlighted. This is great for word recognition! I also like the fact that there is the option to download LeapFrog videos for your child to watch. This is an excellent road trip item for kids!
Of course, you can always connect the Leapster Explorer to your computer in order to see your child's "Learning Path" and see what they are excelling in and how you can better help them. Kids can connect to LeapWorld online in order to expand on what they are learning with the Leapster Explorer. I see that there will also be a camera/recorder attachment coming out! We haven't reviewed this of course, but it sounds exciting if it is easy for young kids to use.
Overall, I think that the Leapster Explorer is the best bang for your buck! It includes everything you could think of. It is like buying the Scribble and Write, Tag reader, a DVD Player, and educational video games all in one system. The only complaint I have is that sometimes the touch screen is not quite sensitive enough which could lead to frustration. It has only happened to Graham on about 2 occasions, but then I showed him how to use the stylus and the frustration soon ended. I also wish that there were a few more games that were good for 3 year olds (I know that it says specifically for 4 and up, but you know... a mom can dream)!
You can pre-order the Leapster Explorer right now for $69.99. They will be shipping out on July 1st and hitting store shelves July 15th! If you have a summer trip or birthday coming up this is worth your money.
This product was provided free of charge by LeapFrog. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

"Step into Summer": Towel Down. All-in-One Tote, Towel, Backpack and More!
When I first read about the Towel Down I thought, "this is such an excellent idea for parents! Why didn't I think of it?". Honestly, this handy invention is not just a handy towel in a bag, it is a HUGE towel that IS a bag and so much more!
We were sent the Towel Down in the Blue and White Hibiscus design for review. First of all, I must say that I am extremely impressed with the generous size of this towel (40 inches x 70 inches). Most of our beach towels are big, but nothing compared to this. The material is 100% Cotton Velour which makes it fluffy and soft to lay on (yes that matters to me). I can't stand those beach towels that are paper thin!
Secondly, the Towel Down is versatile. How many times have you found yourself carrying a pile of things down to the beach or the pool? Our family usually looks pretty funny with all of our gear! The Towel Down is actually a bag itself! There is enough room inside to put your sunscreen, lunch, water bottle, sunglasses and more! This will eliminate the need for the beach tote. I usually have my regular beach tote so full that I end up carrying my towel. What a stroke of genius! You can turn the Towel Down into a backpack or an over the shoulder tote bag. There are snaps at the top in order to close the bag. I found the instructions to be very easy.
Finally, there is a place for all of your belongings once you get to your location. I always struggle with where to put my cell phone. I want to be able to hear it, but I don't want the sand to mess it up or for a passer-by to snatch it out of the top of my bag. The Towel Down has a built in pocket at the top that is generous enough to fit your phone, sunglasses and sunscreen (all the things you would want nearby). They even thought about "fly away towels" when they created this! There are Velcro sections on each corner that will allow you to either store things or place a handful of sand so that your towel will stay in place. If you have two Towel Downs, you can easily connect them with the Velcro on the sides to make a huge blanket or a covering (cocoon).
The only problems I noticed with the Towel Down was the fact that one of my snaps to secure the closure of the backpack came off after the first use and there was a light discoloration on some of the white hibiscus flowers. However, I was able to put the snap back on and open and closed it several times and it stayed in place.
You can purchase the Towel Down for about $44.95. This would make a great gift idea as well!
This product was provided free of charge by Towel Down. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

Making Room for Baby #2! Storage Ideas.
With baby number two on the way and limited space in our house, we are coming up with some creative solutions. Of course, we have been through the closets and have sent things to Goodwill as well as sold several things on Craig's List. There have also been many things that we have thrown out! As I come across different ideas I will definitely share them with you.

Here is a great idea for storage that came from CSN stores. They sent this Badger Basket Shelf Storage Unit for review. I am extremely thrilled about this because not only is it a bookshelf for the tremendous amounts of childrens books we own, but it even has storage underneath. This shelf storage unit will be great with maybe a couple of baskets underneath for storing smaller toys and odds and ends. I also think it will be useful for storing larger, floor type toys without using baskets at all. Just push them underneath and out of the way! We already use the collapsible storage bins below the changing table. You can see my post on how we had Graham's nursery set up for storage as well.
If you are looking for storage options, cribs, or other baby related items you can check out one of CSN stores called Baby Cribs Plus. I have literally spent hours on that site browsing through baby stuff!
What are your creative storage solution? I really could use the help!
CSN stores provided this shelf for review. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

Exercise Tips for Busy Moms {Guest Post}
Being a mom is a full-time job in itself. As a mother of two energetic boys with a full time career in fitness, Kristy DiScipio, Area Group Fitness Manager at Equinox shares tips that have helped her lose the baby weight, reduce stress and balance home and work life.
There may never be an ideal time to exercise, there are limitless reasons to not do something. Here are some tips that can get you your DREAM BODY, or at least make you feel that way.
MAKE IT FIT: As a mom, you are the expert multi-tasker. You could run a company with your ability to change a diaper, feed your toddler, and walk the dog in a bat of an eyelash. Make exercise fit for you. Schedule it in for yourself as part of your daily/weekly TO DO List. Make it a priority for yourself and you will begin to see results.
OH PLEASE TAKE MY BABY (well only for a little while): Find a health club that has child care that is both safe and fun for your little one. Be sure to ask about age ranges as some clubs begin accepting babies as early as 3 months. I use Kids’ clubs at Equinox and my kids LOVE it, they have computers, books, creative play toys, arts and crafts, and DVDS so even older kids can play while you work out. Typically, gyms set a two-hour maximum on babysitting. While your little ones are happily playing, aim to exercise three to five times a week for 30 to 60 minutes each time and do a combination of cardio and strength work. Or better yet, take a class. Get your heart pumping with Cardio Knockout, Studio Cycling or a cardio/sculpt workout such as Total Body Melt or find your inner calm with a Yoga class.
If you do not have access to a facility that has childcare, the next best thing is to hire a reliable and trustworthy babysitter. If you are new to the sitter searching business, try SitterCity. They provide an online service that can help you screen babysitters for a small monthly fee. I subscribe to this service and it has been a HUGE help, especially when you have tapped out all the favors everyone owes you.
SHAKE YOUR BUTT OFF: Channel your inner Diva, get your vogue on and Dance. Dancing is a super calorie burner and cardio workout. Crank up your iPod, toss in a DVD, or take a dance class at your gym or dance studio. The key ingredient is to keep moving. Equinox at Back Bay offers 3 cardio dance classes a week, and there are lots of community/recreational centers and dance studios that offer adult dance classes. According to the Mayo Clinic, for a 140-pound woman, one hour of dancing burns about 300 calories.
WHEN IT DOUBT BALANCE IT OUT: When carrying your baby, the diaper bag, the stroller and all the other necessities, make it a point to alternate sides to even out the balance of your working muscles.
GET ROLLIN’: Splurge on a jogger stroller or a baby carrier designed to handle some good old wear and tear. Make it a point to walk, jog or bike whenever possible and place your children in a stroller or child carrier. The extra resistance will make each movement all the more effective. Just envision if you had to carry a 20lb back pack as you moved about, or had to push a 50 pound object as you walk or run. Use the stroller as a prop and get down and do some squats. You can keep legs hip distance apart to hit the glutes, quads and hamstrings and also add lateral movement by keeping one leg still and stepping out to a side lunge to turn-on the inner leg muscles. This is a great way to strengthen legs without adding bulkiness to the muscles. I also use mine for calf raises while I am waiting for the light to turn green.
USE BABY AS WEIGHT: No time to fit a workout in at the gym, work out at home. Incorporate your little one into your workout. Walk up and down the stairs with your child on your back in an infant carrier. Hold baby in front of you as you do squats and lunges, great for glutes, core and leg strength. Sit baby in front of you as you lie on your side and do leg lifts, gear up for summer swim suits. Find your inner comedian, laugh and joke with your baby as you do burpees, jumping jacks or while running in place, laugh your butt off! If your baby is in its walking stages, play follow the leader and have them march in line with you. Simon Says is also a big favorite of mine when your child is in their toddler years. Be silly, outrageous and most importantly have fun!
CREATE A QUIET SPACE: Down regulate both yourself and you little ones with some child friendly yoga. Let your imagination run wild as you become the down-dog, angry cat, wild child, silly monkey, yawning lion, and the sleeping giant. Tell stories of imagination as you work through each posture, creating an environment of serenity and imagination. My kids loved this while I read to them Where the Wild Things Are, Curious George, and I Love You This Much.
POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT: Don't let your attitude blow it for you. Turn the frown upside down and get moving! A shortened or modified workout is better than skipping the whole thing whenever possible because it keeps it consistent. Become your own coach, talk yourself into it rather than out. A great motivation is using your trigger words, those cue words that fire you up and inspire you to be fearless. If you are not sure what your trigger words are, find them. Take 5 minutes and write down with no expectation or judgment the words that come to your mind when you want something and are willing to give anything to get it. Review your list and choose your top 3 and start talking to yourself!
RECESS/PLAYTIME: Did you ever observe kids when they do not have recess, whether it was a rainy day or too icy to get out and move. When they come home, they are WILD. All this pent up energy dying to get out. The same goes for adults. Give yourself RECESS, stop what you are doing and get out of house or the office. Find a local park or playground. Swing across the monkey bars, climb stairs, do step-ups, triceps dips, and push-ups on the park bench. There are limitless possibilities. You can run the bases of the base ball field, stop at each base and perform 8-12 push-ups. Race across the park with the kids. To make it fair for them, I run backwards this is always fun, because I can cheer them on as we get closer to the finish line. Go to the beach and play, bring a long a volley ball, if you little ones are still crawlers, get down and roll the ball with them. For older kids, Trac-Ball is a total blast, my eight year old Jared, loves to play this game, it requires hand-eye coordination, speed and agility along with a few good laughs.
EVERYDAY TIPS:

For older kids, Trac-Ball is a total blast, my eight year old Jared, loves to play this game, it requires hand-eye coordination, speed and agility along with a few good laughs.
EVERYDAY TIPS:
- Do you really need that half eaten cookie, the drips from the ice cream cone or the mangled chicken tender? Stop eating the kids’ leftovers!
- Walk kids to school. Jog back home to get an extra cardio/calorie burn.
- Wear a pedometer and give yourself a goal – at least 10,000 steps a day. I recently downloaded an Application for my iPhone called, All-In Pedometer. It is super easy to use and makes it easy to track your daily activity
- Take stairs over the elevator/escalators
- Stay hydrated 8-10 glasses of water per day.
- Get 8 hours of sleep a night and most importantly have fun!

"Step into Summer": Midas Rock The Highway
Summer road trips can really be a fun adventure and other times they can become a bear depending upon who is driving and who is riding! When we start to become bored we will often hit the "search" button on the radio and see what funny songs we can find! The best is when we hit an oldies station and my husband knows the lyrics to every song (he was raised on oldies evidently).
Midas is teaming up with SPIN to offer a "Rock The Highway" promotion. You can enter to win several different prizes in their sweepstakes, vote for your favorite road trip songs, or enter your original road song if you are a musician or band. Sweepstakes prizes include a $1,000 gift card, navigation system, satellite radio and more! The promotion ends 8/31/10 and prizes are being awarded monthly.
I have to be honest and tell you that the only music we generally listen to is Christian for many reasons, and we love to listen to praise and worship music to keep us awake and motivated through the trip. If I had to choose a favorite road trip song it would probably be "City on Our Knees" by Toby Mac. We also can play a mean game of "I Spy". If you asked me what one thing I couldn't live without on a road trip, that would be my iPhone!
I was not compensated in anyway for this post. Midas provided the giveaway. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.
This giveaway has ended. Congratulations to rainmommy!

Thank You Moms! My friend, Lorie Shewbridge.
Dear Lorie,
Where do I start? You are the definition of a person who is a friend to all! Every where I look I see that you have already been there offering up comments, tips, support, and advice to your fellow bloggers. I can't believe that it took us all so long to convince you to grab a twitter account! I see you are now being a friend on twitter (not surprising). I so admire your heart for encouragement. I'm not sure if you are aware of the many times you have encouraged me with just a few simple words when I needed it the most. I love hearing all about your family and your sweet dogs as well. Not to mention, you are a super model mama and grandma! I am so proud to call you my friend and would love to meet up with you in Florida again sometime soon (well, let me birth this baby first)!
Sincerely,
Felicia
You can find my super model friend at The Shewbridges of Celebration, FL. You can become another one of her dear friends on Twitter as well (trust me, you want to follow her). She will welcome you with open arms!

These posts were inspired and sponsored by The Motherhood and P&G. You can share the story of your favorite mom and enter the "Thank You Mom Reunions" Contest at P&G. 15 winners will receive $1,000 to visit or spend time with their mother as well as a video camera to record the event.
Read some of the inspiring stories that are being shared online at P&G as well as join The Motherhood Circle to chat about some of your favorite moms! Who should we know about that is an inspiring mom blogger?

"Step into Summer": Sun Protection Zone's SunSkinz
Sunscreen. The necessary evil that comes with summer time! It is expensive and many of them do not work with Graham's skin (many cause him to break out into a rash). I find myself looking for the same brand of VERY expensive sunscreen every year just because I know it will be good on Graham's skin. If you want to start saving a little money on all of that sunscreen, you really should check out the SunSkinz from Sun Protection Zone!
We were sent the boys short sleeved SunSkinz for review with Graham and it has been an absolute life saver! I still had to buy that same expensive sunscreen, but it is going to last me a LOT longer! The SunSkinz are 100 SPF / UPF 50+ Broad Spectrum UV Protection. All I have to do is apply sunscreen to the exposed areas of his skin.
So far, we have used the SunSkinz about 4 different times and I have been highly impressed with it. It is a very sturdy fabric, yet it is comfortable and seems to dry pretty quickly once Graham emerges from the pool or creek. We have washed it twice so far and it is holding up well. I make sure to hang it when drying. I also like the fact that it has a bit of a neck to it. You do need to make sure you cover their neck well with sunscreen just because it isn't completely form fitting to their necks.

You can purchase the Boys Short Sleeved SunSkinz ($18) as well as a host of other wonderful sun protection items from Sun Protection Zone online. They are also making trips to local Costco's so keep your eyes peeled.
This product was provided free of charge by Sun Protection Zone. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

Thank You Moms! My friend, Kate.
Dear Kate,You can find my funny friend at The Shopping Mama where she blogs about her family life as well as great products (unique and fun) from around the internet and her travels.
What a fun person you are to be around! It was so sweet of you and your family to meet up with ours this past February in Disney World. Graham still talks about Jack every now and again. I love your sweet family and how when we met it felt like we had known each other forever! I appreciate all of the support you have given from both the blog and personal end lately. You take your work seriously and always have a funny story to share (Dreadlocks). We need to spend some time hanging out as a family again soon! We miss you!
Sincerely,
Felicia

"Step into Summer": Scare Me Not for summer thunderstorms
The one thing that summer brings that Matthew and I love but Graham and the dog hate are summer thunderstorms and heat lightening. Even when it is not storming outside Graham will ask if there is thunder and lightening.
The Scare Me Not is a genius idea developed in order to help kids conquer their night time fears. Whether your child is afraid of the dark or is afraid of that thing that might be in his room, this can be a great companion! Each Scare Me Not is a monster that has its own personality and special qualities for scaring away and protecting. I love that each Scare Me Not also has a tail with Velcro so that you can attached them to the door knob, foot of the bed, or closet door. Wherever your child is the most afraid, tuck your Scare Me Not!

We were sent Watchdog Wally! He is perfect for Graham because he looks so much like a dog instead of a monster. The first night Wally was here Graham slept with him propped under neath his arm all night long. Wally has a large hole in the center of his head that is his nose. The story is that this nose is perfect for sniffing out bedtime "scaries" under the bed, under the blankets, or in the closet!

The best part of the Scare Me Not plush monsters is their price! You would think that for a specialized plush of this size that you would be paying at least $30. You can purchase any of the Scare Me Nots for only $19.99! What a great gift idea for under $20! The Scare Me Not was also the winner of 7 toy industry awards back in 2009.
This product was provided free of charge by Scare Me Not. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.
