Friday Five: New Year's Crafts for Kids
If you are looking for some fun New Year's craft activities for your kids, check out these wonderful finds that are simple but will get everyone involved.
1. Edible New Year's Hats. They are just as cute as they are delicious! What a fun idea for so many ages.
2. Noise Makers. I know, mine says "2010" because we made these two years ago. Graham sure had a blast shaking them. Beware... you may need to set some limitations for your own sanity!
3. New Year's Eve Poppers/Crackers. What a cute idea from one of my favorite blogs Make and Takes!
4. Time Capsule. How about having your child cut out images or draw pictures of major things that happened to them this year? You could even put them into a jar. Or, make a Memory String!
5. Happy New Year Banner. What could be better than sequins and kids? Ok, you'll have a mess but you will have fun!

QuickSmart Easy Fold Stroller Review
We were sent the QuickSmart Easy Fold Stroller about a month ago for review. We have had the opportunity to use it in various locations and I have come up with some definite things I love about it as well as a few things that you should be aware of.
What We Love
- Light weight. The QuickSmart Easy Fold Stroller only weighs a little over 15 pounds and can easily be lifted with one hand.
- Compact. I own a Subaru Outback which has ample space in the back, but with two boys taking up the back seat I don't have room to sacrifice for groceries and other necessities of life. I love that I can fold this up pretty flat and still have room for more. It even comes with its very own carrying case if you need to throw it over your shoulder. Need a rain cover? That's included as well!
- Easy to fold. I have to admit that it took me about two tries to master folding this, and it still takes some finesse for the final folding step, but overall this stroller has been easy to fold and opens with just a quick "flick" of the wrist.
- Swiveling front wheels. I truly appreciate that the Easy Fold Stroller has two front wheels that swivel completely in order to provide great maneuverability. The are also set close together to provide an easier steering experience.
- Recline and comfort. The seat is pretty well padded for a light weight stroller and includes a reclining option as well as a 5 point harness. The handle bars are also padded for extra comfort for mom and dad. The sun shade covers an ample area to shield your child from the elements and includes a peek-a-boo window.
- Long Lasting. This stroller will hold your child from about 6 months up to 45 pounds! My 4 year old is only 38 pounds!
- No assembly required. If you have ever put together a stroller then you know how convenient this is!
- Best on smooth surfaces. We have found that while the Easy Fold Stroller operates the best on smooth, flat surfaces. While this will go on rocks, it is going to take some extra effort and bumping around.
- Bottom storage. I love that there is bottom storage included as well as a back panel for a few wipes or diapers, I just wish the bottom compartment was bigger. However, for a light weight stroller, I am happy to even have the storage option.
See the Easy Fold Stroller in Action:
Overall, if you are looking for a light weight stroller that is compact and also offers a storage option with recline, the QuickSmart Easy Fold Stroller would be a good choice. You can currently purchase this for $219 on Amazon.
This product was provided free of charge by QuickSmart. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

Pong: iPhone and iPad Case that Reduces Radiation
You guys may have seen the advertisements for these cases, but I'm wondering if you have taken a chance to visit the site and see what they are all about? Pong Research has developed an iPhone and iPad case that has shown to reduce radiation. Of course, I can't truly give you an accurate review of if this case is reducing radiation or not (I am not a lab), but I can tell you what I think about it.
First of all, this passed the teenager "cool" test. I often use my iPhone as my clock for when I teach Sunday School and when I pulled it out last Sunday the case got the "oohs" and "ahhs" from a class full of 9th grade girls. I like the fact that it is slim and conforms well to the iPhone. I was sent the soft touch case in blue. I love the way the outside feels. It is more of a soft feel rather than a plastic feel.
At first I was worried about the fact that the top and bottom of the phone are not covered in any way. What I have found is that the lip that extends down from the back is enough to keep the top and bottom safe. It also has a very flat front, but it sticks up just far enough from the screen in order to keep your screen relatively safe as well.
How Pong Works Against Radiation
From the website:
EMR within one wavelength of the user is called Near Field Intensity (NFI). When you hold your cell phone to your ear, you are absorbing between 48 to 68% of the NFI radiated by your phone. It is this radiation that underlies increasing concerns among physicians, scientists, and lawmakers who believe this exposure to be a health hazard. With the Pong case test results found that the iPhone 4's radiation was reduced by 75%. Below is a photograph of the radiation output:

How to Create Natural Waves in Under 10 Minutes: Busy Mom Hair Styles
My hair has gotten really long over the past few months. I have come to the conclusion that my hair isn't any less complicated short, so I'm going to wear it long! I feel like I have more options this way. But, being a mom to two very busy boys the time I have to get ready and style my hair is limited. After many trial and error runs I feel like I've figured out how to create natural waves in my hair in less than 10 minutes. If you are a mom you know what a feat this can be! In the video below I take you step by step while I fix my hair in the morning. This is reality! The only difference is that my mother-in-law was over so that there were no screaming children in the background. Ha!

Chuggington Chugger Championship Rev'n Race Railway Deluxe Playset
The Chuggington Die Cast line has added a brand new playset to the mix that your kids are really going to enjoy!
We were sent the Chuggington Chugger Championship Rev'n Race Railway Deluxe Playset for review. First of all, this set seems a bit more sturdy than previous sets we have reviewed. My arms and hands got a work out trying to fit this together, but once the pieces were in place they were staying put. That is definitely a bonus to this playset. The idea behind the Rev'n Race Railway is to race Koko around the track to the finish line.
Simply start with Koko under the flags and start winding the crank. While winding the crank you need to press the lever on the side of the flags in order to launch Koko down the ramp, through the tunnel and saw mill and around the corners. You can set the lap counter so that Vee will allow Koko to speed to the finish line once she has raced through about 6-8 times. Once Koko chugs through the finishing tunnel the trophy pops up!
What we love the most about this playset is that it requires no batteries but still incorporates some fun action. It is also generously sized. The entire track is a 4' layout. One down side would be that this track does take up quite a bit of space if you are limited. It is also pretty tough to take apart once you have it all together. So, if you are going to purchase this playset make sure you have a designated location and keep it up for a while so that you aren't going through the hassle of taking it down and putting it back up frequently. The Chuggington Chugger Championship Rev'n Race Railway Deluxe Playset retails for about $59 and works with the other Chuggington Die Cast trains.
Chugginton: The Chugger Championship DVD
If you are looking for something fun to pair with the playset, maybe try The Chugger Championship DVD that features 6 different episodes that will inspire even more play. Also included are coloring and activity sheets so that you can keep the Chuggington fun going everywhere you go! $15.99.
This product was provided free of charge by Learning Curve. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

New Books from Zondervan That Bring Positive Messages to Kids
Every Which Way to Pray by Joyce Meyer (coming January 2012):
If you are a fan of Joyce Meyer then you are really going to love this new series for children called Everyday Zoo. Every Which Way to Pray is the first book of the series and it chronicles Harley and Hayley Hippo trying to figure out the right way to pray. Many of their animal friends come along to help them out. I love how this book lovingly and humorously points out that there is no right or wrong way to pray. My favorite quote comes from Pouch the Pelican, "You don't have to be high in the sky to be close to God! Pouch squawaked. That's what prayer is for!" $15.99.
The Merchant and the Thief by Ravi Zacharias (coming March 2012):
Here is another one to keep you eye out for by the popular Ravi Zacharias. He has taken an old Indian folk tale and puts a spin on it the reinforces the importance of the treasure of God. "When we have our eyes on other people's treasure, we cannot see how close we are to the greatest treasure there is," Raj said. "Anyone can have this treasure, Mohan, even you." "What is the greatest treasure?" Mohan asked. "The greatest treasure is God's love for you, my friend. It is right here with you. This love makes you a rich man on the inside." $15.99
The Beginner's Bible Book of Prayers:
What a great book for preschoolers who are learning all about prayer. You can look for prayers by subject and there are even related Bible stories and verses. $9.99.
The Pocket Bible Doodle Books:
If you have young kids who love to draw this would be an excellent stocking stuffer idea! There are great prompts for various doodles that have to do with the Bible. $9.99.
This product was provided free of charge by Zondervan. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.
