mOmma Baby and Toddler Feeding Products: Innovative and Stylish!
When you think of feeding products for your baby or toddler what usually comes to mind? For me, it involves straight lines and things you would expect to see roaming around in diaper bags. Have you seen mOmma products? I just had my first encounter with them a little over 3 weeks ago and I am completely impressed!
One of the battles that most parents often face with feeding is getting their child to accept change. For me, it was a tough transition to the sippy cup with my oldest son Graham. It was a brand new challenge just to encourage him to eat with utensils at the dinner table. mOmma has a line of feeding products that not only make it fun for your little ones, but they are also functional and are real sanity savers!
All of the mOmma feeding products have a curved design as well as weighted bottoms which allows them to "bobble" on flat surfaces (minus the plates of course). This serves two purposes; fun for kids and less mess from being knocked over. I love the fact that the spoon and fork even "bobble" when the lid has been removed. The sippy cups are sure to be a hit because you can choose from either the straw version or the traditional spout. Both have contoured handles that will help baby grip and learn to self feed.
By looking at these products you would think they would cost an arm and a leg, but they are actually pretty comparable to other popular feeding brands. Prices range from about $7.25 to $22.00 depending upon what you are looking for. I would definitely recommend these products for a fun and functional way to help with self feeding.

Another Sanity Saver... Little Grips!
We had such a hard time getting Graham to use utensils. I honestly believe that it was majority out of his laziness! When he started preschool and was around other children that were using spoons and forks he "caught on" quickly. But, I can remember how frustrating it was when he was little trying to find a spoon or fork that would work for him.
I believe that Little Grips is a great solution to toddler self feeding. Honestly, Little Grips makes so much sense I am surprised that I am just now hearing about them. The concept is that toddlers better feed themselves if they are allowed a utensil that lets them move their arms and wrists instead of fingers. The fine motor skills on toddlers is a hard thing to master sometimes, and Little Grips does a great job of solving the dilemma. I know that for Graham, if he can master something, he can move on! These would be great for transitioning to a real fork or spoon because they are so similar.
Little Grips are dishwasher safe, have a non-slip grip, and have rounded edges for safety. You can purchase them online for $10.95 and I say they are worth every penny!
This product was provided free of charge by Little Grips. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

Zak! Baby. Fun, healthy eating!

Zak! Designs has teamed up with Dr. Sears to offer some really awesome products for feeding babies and toddlers. If you have a toddler you know how frustrating it can be at times to get them to try new and healthy foods. Dr. Sears philosophy is that toddlers are grazers by nature and that this should be encouraged.

We were sent the Nibble Tray with Lid and Detachable Stay-Cool Dipping Section. This is my favorite product by far! Not only is this great for toddlers, but this is a great idea for preschoolers who pack their lunches. I know that at Graham's preschool, if you pack a lunch it has to include all food groups. The Nibble Tray makes it simple to do this! The right portion size for your kids is about the size of their fist. I am able to put small bites of each food group into the Nibble Tray and put the lid on for preschool. I also love the Detachable Stay-Cool Dipping Section. If you put it in the freezer overnight, you can add your dips (yogurt, applesauce, guacamole, etc) so that they stay cool throughout the day.

We were also sent the Smoothie Sipper, Sippy Cup with Flo-Control Valve, Divided Bowl with Lid, and 2 piece Flatware Set. You will notice that all of the products either look like a fruit or vegetable or have fruits and vegetables on them. This is to familiarize your toddler or baby with healthy fruits on a regular basis. The Divided Bowl is adorable and looks like a watermelon. The Flatware Set is a smiling broccoli and carrot. The Smoothie Sipper is a great way to sneak in some veggies or other fruits that your toddler would not normally eat.

You can pick up any of the Zak! Baby products online from Amazon, Buy Buy Baby, Target, The Soft Landing, or La Prima Baby. Any of these products would make great baby shower gift ideas!
These products were provided free of charge by Zak! Designs. These are my honest opinions on the products. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

Tinytongs. Help for your self feeder and 20% off!
Self feeding and learning to use utensils has probably been the toughest battle for us. It seems that once children learn they can use their hands to eat, they find that it is easier than learning how to use utensils. When I saw Tinytongs my first thought was "Genius!".
Tinytongs uses the ideas of chopsticks or grill tongs in order to help your child learn to feed themselves. It works great because it is just the right size for small hands and has grippers built in in order to help pick up and keep food secure. The tension on the Tinytongs is just right for picking up a good bite size (not to big and not to small). The outside has a nice, jelly-like feel to it that makes it easier for kids to hang on to. Tinytongs are also non-toxic and dishwasher safe.

What has been great for us is that the Tinytongs provide a fun factor that makes Graham actually want to use them. He will try several times before giving up. With a regular fork or spoon he will try once and become frustrated. Graham actually asks for his "tongs" when we sit down for dinner. I think they are definitely helping him learn the fine motor skills that are necessary for mastering the fork and spoon.

You can purchase a single Tinytong for $7.99 or a 4-pack for $24.99 on their website. Tinytongs would make a great baby shower gift idea for those of you who look for the unique.

Save Your Sippies!
"What is this black nastiness in his sippy cup straw!" is what I yelled to my husband a few months ago. Evidently, when you wash the straw parts in the dish washer build up can get crammed in the crevices. After ramming a skewer through it, running steaming hot water, and jumping up and down, I was ready to toss it! My husband told me to wait (because sippy cups are not cheap). Instead I grabbed one of the wire bottle cleaners I had left over from when Graham was a baby and that did the trick.

Now one smart mom has come out with a solution for cleaning sippy cup straws. The Sippy Straw Cleaner is BPA free and designed to fit most major sippy cup brands. It works great in Graham's Foogo Straw Cups. I love it when someone can see a problem and invent a solution! For only $3.98, the Sippy Straw Cleaner would be a great gift topper on baby shower gifts!
Each package contains two Sippy Straw Cleaners. One has a blue handle and the other is handle free. Yay! for saving money!

My Plate-Mate. Making Eating Easier for Toddlers
Graham knows his alphabet, numbers 1-20, shapes, and colors but he still struggles with feeding himself! Now I think it is more of a practice issue, but fine motor skills can take a while for kids to master. One huge issue revolves around eating and the frustration of getting the food onto the utensil. My Plate-Mate was created to put an end to these frustrations.
My Plate-Mate is simple and easy to use. You just slip it onto your regular plates (it is plastic, but stretches well) and you are done. It works by keeping the food on the plate as your child tries to scoop it up. If they are struggling, the sides will help the food stay on the utensil and off your table! It is really a wonderful idea!

Graham has used this several times and I have seen some success. He is at the point right now where he would rather use his hands than mess around with utensils though. I need to get him into the habit and I'm sure that My Plate-Mate is going to help him. He tends to get frustrated easily when he can't pick up on things quickly, so this will definitely help us not have to fight certain battles over dinner time!
My Plate-Mate retails for $7.50 and can be purchased in three different colors: Blue, Pink, or White. You can purchase a set of three for $20.

Hello Hanna. Place Mats but so Much More!

Are you ready to fall in love with place mats? Have you seen Hello Hanna... or should we say, hello adorable! This modern new twist on place mats takes things to a new level and will quickly capture you and your child's hearts.

Hello Hanna has 3 different get-set place mats to choose from that are sure to suit your child's tastes. What is so great and different about these you ask? Well, they are actually like having your very own story and activity book on a place mat. We were sent the Hello Jungle place mat set that features 4 different designs: monkey, hippo, panda, and an elephant. There are two of each mat in the set as well as enough stickers to go with each mat. Kids can pop up the character and dress them, create different faces, add accessories and play to their hearts content! There are even spaces for their utensils, plate, and cup. The back of each place mat also has a special place to write whatever is on your heart and fill in your name, your best friend, your favorite food and more. They are generously sized so you don't need to worry about messes either.

These are perfect for restaurants, birthday parties, holiday gatherings and more. We even use ours to keep Graham entertained while we prepare dinner. I can see these being real life savers in restaurants (if you have a toddler you know what I mean). Little fingers and imaginations will be entertained long enough to get food on the table while hopefully saving some temper tantrums. Graham also takes great delight in sticking the stickers on his own face and head. Why not, right?

The get-set place mats sell for $14.95 at HelloHanna.com and would make an excellent idea for your next party or any other time you need to save a little sanity!

Unique Baby Bibs by Its Bibalicious N More!
There is a new Etsy shop you just have to check out! Its Bibalicious N More creates unique, one-of-a-kind handcrafted baby bibs.Michelle, the woman behind the sewing machine, has been sewing nearly all of her life. Growing up, her mother was very crafty and creative. She taught Michelle and her sisters how to sew, and as teens, they sewed their own school clothes. Michelle's love of sewing grew, and soon she followed in her mother's footsteps, creating handmade quilts, "quiet" books, dresses and baby bibs for her own grandchildren.
All bibs are top quality. Each bib is made of 100% cotton. Most bibs feature 3D button eyes. All are a generous size and can be used for babies and toddlers! And best of all, they're machine washable!
These bibs would make a wonderful gift for a baby shower, birthday, or Christmas!
You can purchase yours at Its Bibalicious N More for $17.
-Alesha
Editor's Note: This product was not provided for review. Michelle is Alesha's mother and provided the winning bib for giveaway. I, Felicia, truly believe this is an adorable and unique product and wanted Alesha to share this adorable find with you all! What a great gift idea!

Thermos Foogo Phases.
My favorite sippy cup just did something new that makes complete sense! Foogo by Thermos created a new line called phases. Basically, you are getting 24 different possible combinations as far as sippy cups go!This would've been perfect when we were struggling to find the perfect cup for Graham. I bought so many different cups before I found Thermos (which was about the only one that worked for him). My husband used to constantly joke that we should buy stock in sippy cups because we owned so many different ones!
We were sent all of the Foogo Phases products to test out and I am so thankful that Thermos did not change their quality. They are still the same extra durable cups that they were making in the beginning. You can have a soft spout with handles, a hard sippy spout, and a pop-up straw lid! You can mix and match your lids with or without handles in BPA-free drink cups in double wall vacuum-insulated stainless steel and in Eastman Tritan™ copolymer.
These would make nice baby shower gifts because they will follow the baby for a long time and give the mother options if she has a child who is picky about sippy cups!
This product was provided free of charge by Thermos. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

Mommy Bibby. No more mess!

One of the neatest baby products I've had the privilege of reviewing is the Mommy Bibby. This product is a new-mom essential, guaranteed to keep baby spitups far from your outfit while also keeping your baby's skin free from dirt and grime that might be on your own shoulder! What makes this must-have baby item even better is that it is a completely mom-designed, mom-run business.
Lelia, a mother of four, and Ella, a mother of three, are the two entrepreneurial moms from New York behind the aboutBaby. company. Since their products are all "about baby", their company prides itself on making the very best bibby for your baby. Ella originally came up with the idea for the Mommy Bibby when her son Jack was born. She quickly found herself cringing as Jack's adoring fans picked him up and put him over their shoulders. Ella could only imagine the dirt, pet hair, smoke, and daily grime transferred to Jack's newborn skin with each interaction.

The Mommy Bibby was her solution to keeping her son's skin safe but she quickly realized that the Mommy Bibby held so much more potential!
Review: After trying out and reviewing the Mommy Bibby for a few days, these are the top features I noticed:

Verdict: I love the idea that I can support other moms with a purchase of the Mommy Bibby. I cannot wait to use this product with my newborn--I know it will save me from countless outfit changes! It will also be great to not have to worry about a bib slipping off my shoulder just when Caroline decides to spit-up--the velcro is a genius idea! I'm also thrilled that the bib is made with plush organic cotton.
I am not sure how long I'll be able to nurse Caroline under the Mommy Bibby, though, as the length of it seems suitable for infant nursers but not for older babies who tend to fuss more or lift up nursing covers.
Recap: Regardless of its length, the fact remains that the Mommy Bibby is a wonderful invention, perfect for moms of newborns--I'm definitely thinking that these would make excellent gifts for all the pregnant friends I know!
The organic cotton Bibby costs $25 and the suede cloth Bibby costs $35. You can purchase your Mommy Bibby on the aboutBaby. website. You can also find them in select stores on Long Island: Paddy Bunks (Locust Valley), The Locust Valley Chemist (Locust Valley) and Glen Head Pharmacy (Glen Head).

Review: After trying out and reviewing the Mommy Bibby for a few days, these are the top features I noticed:
- The Mommy Bibby is made with sure-stick Velcro which ensures that the bib will never fall off your shoulder when the you or the baby moves--something that other burp cloths cannot handle!
- The Mommy Bibby is long enough for you to discretely nurse your infant under cover.
- The Mommy Bibby is made with soft, plush organic cotton (you can also purchase a Mommy Bibby made with ultra suede smooth fabric).
- There are three fun trim patterns for the organic cotton bib and three different colors: leopard, blue, yellow, and a pinkie coral (sure to hide stains!) for the ultasuede bib.

Verdict: I love the idea that I can support other moms with a purchase of the Mommy Bibby. I cannot wait to use this product with my newborn--I know it will save me from countless outfit changes! Sprout Baby. Organic and Eco-Friendly.
Sprout Baby recently started selling organic, eco-friendly products for babies.
One of their newest product lines features great feeding supplies--from utensils and bottles to bowls and placemats. We were given two bottles to review in anticipation of our newest bundle of joy arriving. Both are glass bottles designed for infants.
Review: The first glass bottled we tried was the Lifefactory Wee Go Glass Baby Bottle in the four-ounce size. Talk about adorable! The Lifefactory bottle features a silicone sleeve in six cute colors. Why would you need a silicone sleeve? Well, besides the cute factor, the plastic and latex-free, non-toxic sleeve will definitely distinguish your bottle from other babies, prevent the glass bottle from breaking, allow you (and eventually your baby!) grip the bottle, and help ventilate the bottle.
To help keep clean-up easy on busy parents, both the bottle as well as the sleeve can be boiled or put in the dishwasher together. The plastic ring, plug and cap contain no polycarbonates and are food grade, FDA approved and recyclable. The nipples also come in two stages--1 (0-3 months) and 2 (3-6 months). Sprout Baby also sells the nine-ounce version (with corresponding stage 2 nipple) of this bottle for older babies.
Verdict: We really liked this bottle. My 15-month old daughter wanted it to be hers--she really loved the tactile silicone sleeve. I was very grateful for the sleeve buffer--the bottle was dropped quite a few times but you'd never know. I also really liked that the ounces were listed on the ounces and millimeters were printed on the side of the silicone sleeve. I think this bottle is a great option and we will definitely be using it a lot!

The second bottle we were given for review was the Born Free glass bottle in the five-ounce size.
Review: While this bottle does not have the silicone sleeve, it does feature contoured sides that make gripping the bottle easy. My daughter also toted this bottle around the house and dropped it on numerous occasions--no worries here--this bottle is DURABLE! Side note--Sprout Baby does sell a silicone sleeve to cover the Born Free bottle.
This bottle also comes in two sizes and two nipple stages--growing with you as your child gets older.
What I really liked about this bottle was their air vent system. The Born Free company claims that this nipple helps eliminate colic symptoms. I believe it!
Verdict: While i loved the cute silicone covers on the Life Factory bottles, I think the Born Free glass bottle is even better--still durable (and, with the option of adding silicone sleeves, you'll get even more durability!). The air vent system requires a bit more of assembly work--you have to combine two venting pieces before adding the nipple--I think it is worth the time not having the colic! And, while this is a small perk, i like that the measuring amounts (in ounces and millimeters) are on the same side of the bottle--you can look in one place and see the amount of milk left.
I am continually impressed by the Sprout Baby company--they are very pro-active in their community and really help parents make eco-friendly decisions by carrying these new eco-friendly products.

Contigo Kids Auto Seal Mugs
I have found a very sleek looking mug that is great for kids. It is by Contigo and is wonderful for kids who have outgrown sippy cups.Graham was sent the Auto Seal Mug in Blue and Green. I will say that at the age of two he is not quite ready or coordinated enough to operate the mug. It will definitely be coming in handy as he grows older and needs more options. This will be a perfect option for road trips (we really do not need any more juice on the backs of our seats).
The best part about this cup is the fact that the lid is all one piece. That means there are no extra parts to clean and/or loose. It works when you press the button on the outside to sip. Once you are finished you release the button and it automatically seals making 100% sure there will be no spilling. The body is also contoured for smaller hands and has a no skid bottom so that it stays in place on tables. Of course, it is BPA free and is also safe to place on the top rack of the dishwasher (Yay! No hand washing... we have enough to do)!
You can buy 2 of these for $15.99 (a lot cheaper than some other brands we buy). You can also pick up extra gaskets for the mugs if it needs to be replaced.
This giveaway has ended. Congratulations to Lori!

The Safe Sippy 2
You've got to love a company who chooses quality above quantity and keeps our kids safe! Kidsbasix is the creator of the Safe Sippy and now has come out with the Safe Sippy 2. This new cup is a 2-in-1 sippy cup and straw bottle. The Safe Sippy 2 is still made from stainless steel and still boasts the sleek design of the first. This cup is great for kids like Graham who never got into the sippy cup stage and went straight for the straws. What a great idea for saving money on buying several different cups to see which one your child will like best!
A dust cap and travel plug is included, along with the straw and straw adapter. I am always a fan of stainless steel because it is virtually indistructable and helps with germs and bacteria. One word of caution is to watch out if you store this in the refrigerator. It seems to have some sort of pressure build up that allows the liquid to overflow once you open it after being in the fridge all night.
You can pick these up at Babies R Us or a store near you.

Baby Dipper. End Self Feeding Frustrations!
Graham has always been very good with his gross motor skills (great runner, jumper, dancer, acrobat, etc) but his fine motor skills have been the ones that have come the slowest. One of those fine motor skills is self feeding with a spoon. Now, I must say that part of this I think is from being a little bit on the lazy side (mom and dad can shovel more into his mouth at a faster rate than he can), but he also has just needed more practice. When I was contacted by the extremely innovative mother who created the Baby Dipper I was thrilled to try it out. Barbara created this when she found herself with two sets of twins and not enough hands to feed them all! With most bowls you have to have your hand on the bowl as well as on the spoon. Barbara was struggling to find a product that would allow her to have a free hand so she invented her own! The best part is that it also helps toddlers learn to self feed!
See it in Action:
I was surprised to see Graham gobble up his apple sauce all by himself the first time I placed the bowl and spoon in front of him! The Baby Dipper works by having contoured sides, a sloped interior, triangular shape, and a bottom that does not slide! All of this helps aide in making one handed feeding and toddler self feeding possible. Even the spoon has a curved shape in order to make things simple. I also love the fact that the bowl is transparent so that you and your child can see what is inside and how to get to it. The weight of the bowl is more than regular bowls also aiding in keeping it in one spot. Because the Baby Dipper is Phthalate and lead free, it is also safe for your kids.
This is definitely on the top of my lists of what to get new moms! The Baby Dipper retails for $9.99.

Picky Eater? Let them Have Fun!
Graham has really been struggling with using utensils and this has been the first thing to get him slightly motivated. He will make the noises associated with the construction equipment as he scoops up his food. The fork is a fork lift, the spoon a front loader, and there is even a pusher (perfect for getting the last pea on your spoon) that is a bulldozer! The Construction Plate goes right along with the utensils offering designated places for scooping, pushing and lifting.

Overall, I am highly impressed with the quality of the pieces. They are extremely sturdy and wash well in the dishwasher. The wheels and trim are actually created from a rubberized feeling material which makes it feel even more authentic. The best part, they are BPA, PVC, and Phthalates FREE! There is absolutely no paint used.

Aunt LaLa's Log: A Stylish and Handy Baby Log
Before I had Graham I remember thinking to myself, what is all the hype behind people documenting every single time the baby eats, sleeps, or dirties a diaper? Was it really going to be that important for me to keep track of these things? This was coming from a person who had not yet been a mother and I soon found the reason behind all of this tracking! It was important for nursing and to see how well my baby was thriving.
During the first 3 months it is hard to establish a routine and if you are breastfeeding it can become a little tricky. I did pretty well to keep all of the information stored in my mind, but there would be times when sleep deprivation got the best of me and it would have been nice to have it written down. Every time we went to the doctor I was asked how many times he nursed per day and how long, how many dirty diapers and wet diapers he had per day and how well he was sleeping. How nice it would have been to just whip out this cute little notebook!
Aunt LaLa's Log was developed by a mom who needed a more organized way to keep track of all of these things. When she was tired of writing things down on the backs of papers, she and her sister developed Aunt LaLa's Log and the rest is history!

This adorable baby log can be found in several different styles and colors to suit your taste. You can shop by "boy" or "girl" themed journals. There are 90 days worth of charts that allow you to make notes of feedings, diapers, naps and anything else you think is important. There is even a section for keeping up with sicknesses and some general information. Aunt LaLa's Log also comes in a layout for Twins! I personally love the way the charts are laid out. They are done in such a no non-sense way! There is plenty of room for filling in or checking and it even provides a place to check to keep track of what side you nursed on! You can tell that the creators of this practical baby log have been there!
Aunt LaLa's Log would be perfect for the baby who has to be in child care. Even if it is a family member who is watching your child, you are going to need to know what went on during the day. This would be a simple way for your child care provider to keep things organized. Aunt LaLa's Journal is sized so that it will fit easily into most diaper bags or purses.
Aunt LaLa's Log retails for about $29.95 for the standard and $49.95 for Twins.
