Way Basics Eco-Modular Furniture

Way Basics Eco-Modular Furniture

Graham has one of those storage cubicles in his room.  It really has been great for storing a lot of his miscellaneous items (shoes, books, toys, etc).  The only problem I had with it was putting it all together.  I mean, it wasn't overly hard, but it was time consuming and annoying!  the backings are flimsy cardboard that could probably be punctured by any of his various toys if tossed  hard enough.

When I was contacted by Way Basics about reviewing some of their line, I was really intrigued by what I saw on the website.  First of all, it is constructed with 99% recycled paper.  For those of you trying to lessen your carbon footprint this would be a great way to go.  Secondly, you can configure these cubicles any way you would like because they are not attached to one another.  This is great when you decide you would like to rearrange the room and need a little extra space.  Finally, there are absolutely no tools required!  This is my favorite part.  My husband actually put together one cube during a commercial break (we are 24 fans)!

See the Assembly in Action:

Now, my first thought when I head that the product was created from recycled paper was, "and how long is this going to hold a few books."  When I headed over to the website and saw that a grown man could stand on one I was impressed (not what these were intended for by the way).  The Way Basics version is also much thicker than the one in Graham's room which makes me feel a lot better about the quality.

If you are looking for some simple storage solutions or even some cute furniture that is eco-friendly, Way Basics could be a good choice for you.  I know that we have been impressed just from the little bit we have experienced.  Prices start at about $22.

This product was provided free of charge by Way Basics. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

Repax Bags. Good for the Earth and Your Wallet!

Repax Bags. Good for the Earth and Your Wallet!

corp_logo

Lately, I have been trying to do a better job about doing my part in the grocery store to bring my own bags.  Not only for the Earth, but for the economy.  I  have been told that it will not be long before ALL grocery stores will begin charging for their plastic bags.  Many already charge a few cents per bag.

fourbags_withpouch

Repax Bags are an adorable, economical, and practical way to do reusable shopping bags.  We were sent the Grasshopper green ones for review.  What I find so great about these particular shopping bags is that they take the hassle out of making sure you have them when you need them.  4 bags come in a matching storage pouch that has a zip tie closure.  The bags are extremely generous in size and can accommodate up to 20 pounds of product.  The pouch is great because it is only 5 inches wide and fits perfectly in my purse and stores nicely in the side compartment of my car door (the same place I keep my umbrella and ice scrapper).  Once I am done with the bags I just stuff them back inside of the bag!  You may take more steps to make them neat, but I say the quicker the better!  They also are machine washable which is great for my germaphobic self (those grocery carts give me the creeps)!

You can purchase Repax Bags for only $19.95 from the website.  They are also available in 5 different fun and fresh colors!  What a great gift idea for under $20.

This product was provided free of charge by Repax Bags. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

Clorox Green Works. Natural and Powerful! $3 off Coupon and a chance to win.

Clorox Green Works. Natural and Powerful! $3 off Coupon and a chance to win.

Clorox is definitely a trusted name around here. I should have bought stock in the Clorox Anywhere spray when Graham was a baby. I honestly carried around a miniature spray bottle filled with the stuff for outings! I liked that it was gentle and effective. Well, Clorox is doing even more to be gentle in more ways than one. With the Clorox Green Works line, they are doing their part to be gentle to our planet.

We were sent the Clorox Green Works Laundry Detergent and Stain Remover Spray to try out. At first I was nervous that the Green Works products may not touch some of our tougher stains, but I was quickly assured of how powerful they are! About two days after we received the products my husband pulled his favorite pair of blue jeans out of the dryer to find two large pink spots on the back pockets. It must have been washed with something red that bled onto it. I was worried that the pants would not be salvaged because they had already been dried. We sprayed some of the Green Works Stain Remover on and let it sit for a few minutes before throwing it in the wash. My husband is happy to report that the pink stains are completely gone!

The Clorox Green Works Laundry Detergent also worked great and has a light, fresh fragrance. For those of you who have extra sensitive skin there is a free and clear option as well. I will say that my son has pretty sensitive skin and has had no problems with the regular detergent. The Clorox Green Works Laundry Detergent leaves no chemical residues on your clothing and is formulated to work in your HE or regular washer. It is a water and plant based cleaning agent that is good for us and the Earth. A little bit of this will go a LONG way! I found this out the hard way. I had to wash a bathroom rug which normally takes a normal size amount of detergent for our HE washer. I quickly found that I needed less! This is great news for moms who are trying to cut back any way they can!

Right now you can receive $3 off your purchase of the Clorox Green Works Detergent. Also, submit your review of the laundry products from now until December 20th and be entered to win a high efficiency washer/dryer or Green Works products!

The bottom line is I am glad to know that a trusted brand like Clorox is offering consumers everywhere the opportunity to have chemical residue free skin! Think about it, just about everything that is on your clothing eventually absorbs into your skin!

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Clorox Green Works and received a bottle of Green Works Natural Detergent and Stain Remover to facilitate my review and a $20 thank-you gift certificate.

The Ultimate Cloth. Buy it for a Penny plus Shipping!

The Ultimate Cloth. Buy it for a Penny plus Shipping!

If you have been a reader for a while you know that our house can get pretty messy with 2 cats, a shedding Corgi, and a 2 year old! We definitely go through our fair share of cleaners and it does a number on the pocket book. That's why when I was contacted by the Ultimate Cloth I was curious to try it out. You see, all you need to clean is the cloth and water! A definite money saver!

I was definitely skeptical about a mere cloth and water working on hard messes, but I was pleasantly surprised! I first used this on the back of the chair where Graham eats because it has stuck on mess that has been there for a while. I have tried cleaning it with cleaners in the past and would have to scrub and scrub to make any head way. The Ultimate Cloth got it clean in a matter of a few seconds with just water! Super impressed! It also works great on my windows and mirrors. Without using any cleaner it created a streak free shine!

How does the Ultimate Cloth do this you ask? Well, it uses a patent pending MicraFiber technology that has a 100% money back guarantee. This is great if you are concerned about chemicals being around your young children or pets. It is also reusable. Simply throw it in the washer and use it over and over again! I have even bleached and used Oxy Clean on mine and it is still working like new.

You can purchase the standard sized Ultimate Cloth for $6 or the Super Size Cloth for $9. There are also several different Value Package Options you can check out on The Ultimate Cloth website. Keep up with all the Ultimate Cloth happenings on their Facebook Page!

**Right now you can buy the Standard Ultimate Cloth for a penny + shipping HERE!

This product was provided free of charge by The Ultimate Cloth Company. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

Norwex: Healthy Cleaning with a Clean Conscience

Norwex: Healthy Cleaning with a Clean Conscience

I am so happy to introduce the Norwex company to you. Norwex sells healthy and safe cleaning supplies that you can feel confident using.

When I was first contacted about reviewing this company, I was very wary of it. I thought it was another one of those "shell" companies that sold "natural" products through their sundry resellers and consultants.

I couldn't have been more wrong. Deja Peterson, the Norwex team consultant that contacted Go Graham Go, is passionate about the Norwex products and even more compassionate about ensuring that every customer is satisfied with them. In fact, the reason Deja decided to join the Norwex company was because of the company's incredible integrity and ethics.

But Deja didn't just stop there--from now until the end of December, all the proceeds from the sales on her website are going towards World Vision to buy livestock for needy families. Yes--ALL the proceeds! WOW! Her goal is to raise $1675 for this cause, which you can read more about here.

Of course, Deja's incredible goal and generosity aren't worth much if the Norwex products she sells aren't equally incredible. Well, I'm happy to tell you that I tried out four different Norwex products and loved them all.

The Norwex product line is mainly known for their own state-of-the-art Antibac Microfiber Cloths. These microfiber cloths are named "Antibac" for a reason. In all areas of the home, including bathrooms and kitchens, microfiber cloths remove 99+% of the bacteria from surfaces, resulting in a cleaner, healthier environment. And, get this--all you have to use is water + the microfiber cloth.
REVIEW: I was definitely leery of that claim and, while I didn't have a bacteria testing kit on hand, I can attest that my counter tops, bathroom sinks, and the like looked (and smelled!) immaculately clean after each use. Because you do not need to use any sanitary spray with them, these Antibac Microfiber cloths will reduce the use of cleaning chemicals in your home--saving you money and exposure to toxic fumes (which is huge for anyone with allergies and chemical sensitivities!)

The Antibac Window Cloth also only needs a bit of water to get your windows and mirrors shiny and streak-free. My toddler is at the stage where she wants to look at herself in the full-length mirror all the time. Needless to say, that means I'm always cleaning the mirror. How nice and EASY it was to just wet the window cloth, wipe down the mirror, and have it spotless again, no chemical sprays required!

Norwex also carries a line of laundry products. Since I have a messy toddler who is a magnet for dirt and stains, Deja sent me the Laundry Pre-Wash Stain Remover to review. It is perfect to use on baby and children's clothes, or anyone with skin sensitivities. The 100% all-natural formula is hypoallergenic, biodegradable, non-toxic and free of allergens, dyes, perfumes and petroleum solvents. And, it works! I used it on a shirt that had avocado and banana stains (next to impossible to get out). I'm happy to report that Catherine wore that shirt today without any signs of those stains!

Finally, I reviewed the Norwex Spirinettes. Made of stainless steel these scrubbers are extremely durable, long-lasting, and, of course, chemical-free. I put the spirinettes to the test the other day. Let's just say that I took a nap and forgot that I had sweet potatoes boiling on the stove:

Not to fear, I plopped a Spirinette in the pot and scrubbed away.

I seriously did not think this stuff would come off. It was at least 3 cm thick. But the Spirinette saved my favorite pot and now it looks like this:

Amazing! I can use it again (and I have!). I'm still impressed.

VERDICT: The Norwex products that I tried did a wonderful job. In fact, I highly recommend you try an Antibac Microfiber cloth. I had mine in the wash for one day and I missed using it!

And remember, all the proceeds from the sales on Deja's Norwex website are going towards World Vision to buy livestock for needy families.

Sprout Baby. Organic and Eco-Friendly.

Sprout Baby. Organic and Eco-Friendly.

Sprout Baby recently started selling organic, eco-friendly products for babies.

One of their newest product lines features great feeding supplies--from utensils and bottles to bowls and placemats. We were given two bottles to review in anticipation of our newest bundle of joy arriving. Both are glass bottles designed for infants.

Review: The first glass bottled we tried was the Lifefactory Wee Go Glass Baby Bottle in the four-ounce size. Talk about adorable! The Lifefactory bottle features a silicone sleeve in six cute colors. Why would you need a silicone sleeve? Well, besides the cute factor, the plastic and latex-free, non-toxic sleeve will definitely distinguish your bottle from other babies, prevent the glass bottle from breaking, allow you (and eventually your baby!) grip the bottle, and help ventilate the bottle.

To help keep clean-up easy on busy parents, both the bottle as well as the sleeve can be boiled or put in the dishwasher together. The plastic ring, plug and cap contain no polycarbonates and are food grade, FDA approved and recyclable. The nipples also come in two stages--1 (0-3 months) and 2 (3-6 months). Sprout Baby also sells the nine-ounce version (with corresponding stage 2 nipple) of this bottle for older babies.

Verdict: We really liked this bottle. My 15-month old daughter wanted it to be hers--she really loved the tactile silicone sleeve. I was very grateful for the sleeve buffer--the bottle was dropped quite a few times but you'd never know. I also really liked that the ounces were listed on the ounces and millimeters were printed on the side of the silicone sleeve. I think this bottle is a great option and we will definitely be using it a lot!

The second bottle we were given for review was the Born Free glass bottle in the five-ounce size.

Review: While this bottle does not have the silicone sleeve, it does feature contoured sides that make gripping the bottle easy. My daughter also toted this bottle around the house and dropped it on numerous occasions--no worries here--this bottle is DURABLE! Side note--Sprout Baby does sell a silicone sleeve to cover the Born Free bottle.

This bottle also comes in two sizes and two nipple stages--growing with you as your child gets older.

What I really liked about this bottle was their air vent system. The Born Free company claims that this nipple helps eliminate colic symptoms. I believe it!

Verdict: While i loved the cute silicone covers on the Life Factory bottles, I think the Born Free glass bottle is even better--still durable (and, with the option of adding silicone sleeves, you'll get even more durability!). The air vent system requires a bit more of assembly work--you have to combine two venting pieces before adding the nipple--I think it is worth the time not having the colic! And, while this is a small perk, i like that the measuring amounts (in ounces and millimeters) are on the same side of the bottle--you can look in one place and see the amount of milk left.

I am continually impressed by the Sprout Baby company--they are very pro-active in their community and really help parents make eco-friendly decisions by carrying these new eco-friendly products.

Mountain Green. Healthy Green Cleaners!

Mountain Green. Healthy Green Cleaners!

If you have been reading Go Graham Go for a while you may remember a post back in August about a wonderful company I stumbled across called Mountain Green. I am always on the look out for green companies that manufacture detergents, soaps, and more that are safe for my family. One reason is because I now have a pre-schooler who has extremely sensitive skin.

From the Mountain Green website: "Since we know that what goes on your clothes goes on your skin, and what goes on your skin gets absorbed into your body, we use only vegetable-based ingredients, no harsh chemicals and no rash-producing enzymes."

I am always impressed with a company who can stand behind their product and who puts the consumers best interest in mind. That line on their website caught my eye and sticks with me. It is so important to remember that what we are putting on our clothes is eventually being absorbed into our bodies. I guess I have never been more aware of this now that I have my own child to look after!

Mountain Green just recently launched a brand new, fresh looking site! It looks amazing and is extremely easy to navigate! They still have the amazing natural detergents, soaps, and softeners that are based on things that grew out of the earth (imagine that), and they are offering $5 flat rate shipping on orders as well. You can even request sample packets to test out the products before you buy them. They charge you $2 up front, but send you a $2 off code for your purchase (so you are essentially receiving a free sample).

You can check out my full review of the Mountain Green Baby Line here.

This giveaway has ended. Congratulations to Emily!

Mountain Green provided the following products for a giveaway and I was sent a set of these products free of charge back in August to review. Please see Terms of Use for more details.

Mountain Green: All Natural Laundry and Cleaning Products + Coupon Code!

Mountain Green: All Natural Laundry and Cleaning Products + Coupon Code!

From day one Graham has had sensitive skin. It has definitely gotten better as he has gotten older, but it is still a concern of ours. Because of this, I am always on the look out for new all natural laundry and cleaning supplies.

Mountain Green has a wide selection of all natural supplies for laundry, cleaning, and more. We had the opportunity to sample some of Mountain Greens all natural baby line. There are two scent options to choose from: Free and Clear and Baby Scented. You can purchase your items individually or in cases. Right now there is free shipping on orders over $80!

Petroleum is left out of all of Mountain Green products and they use renewable and biodegradable resources. This means that the products are not just safe for you, but safe for the environment. Because the laundry detergent is natural, it is naturally more gentle on your fabrics.

I love the gentle scent that comes in the detergent, fabric softener, and dryer sheets! It is very subtle in my opinion. The dryer sheets actually come out wet from a pop up tube of 40 sheets. The dish washing liquid has been gentle on my hands and still does a great job at getting things clean. The laundry detergent has also done great with Graham's sheets while he has been potty training. The Mountain Green Baby products range anywhere from $11.99 to $3.49 which makes them a great price for what you are getting!

EcoSMART Organic Insect Repellent

EcoSMART Organic Insect Repellent

I held a giveaway several months ago for the EcoSMART organic insect repellent, but had not tried it until now. If you are an avid reader of Go Graham Go, you will know that the mosquitoes think that I am a tasty snack... more like meal. I walk out the door and have about 10 bites within minutes. My life is miserable in the summer time because of it! I also am very careful about the products I put on mine and my family's skin. Let's face it...they are pesticides! We wash our fruit and vegetables like crazy because of pesticides. Well, I am happy to support EcoSMART and their efforts to keep us safely bug free.

The insect repellent retails for $7 which is a very reasonable price. The best part about it, other than the fact that it is organic, is that as soon as you spray it on it dries! There is absolutely no DEET or any other synthetic chemicals in the bottle. EcoSMART insect repellent works by using plant oils and repels pest for hours. To me, the smell is still pretty strong, but not as bad as the repellents with DEET. You also need to make sure to layer it on pretty thick (it is non-greasy so don't worry about slithering away)!

All Purpose Organic Cleaner | Baby Girl Cleaner

All Purpose Organic Cleaner | Baby Girl Cleaner

I hate to admit it, but I was cleaning out the playroom/junk room yesterday and found that Graham's old high chair still had food stuck on the side! Gross! I looked under the cabinet for the closest cleaner and grabbed the Baby Girl All Purpose Cleaner that was sent to me a couple of weeks ago. It is all natural and I was a little nervous that it would not be strong enough to remove the food that had been there for probably several of months (I know... hanging my head in shame). Much to my surprise, the cleaner worked instantly! I didn't even have to let it sit!

Baby Girl cleaner is certified organic and was created by a mom! Check out the ingredients: Water, vinegar, organic coconut oil, organic olive oil, organic jojoba oil, peppermint essential oil blend, organic aloe vera, rosemary extract, and sodium carbonate. I love the fact that it is safe to use around kids. I always worry when I spray down the table that traces of the chemicals I am using are going to end up in our bellies or under our skin.

The smell of this cleaner is also nice. You can definitely detect the vinegar, but it is nicely hidden by a fresh rosemary and peppermint scent. It has been working well on all of our finishes (wood, plastic, vinyl, and ceramic). You may want to know that if you use a lot in one spot it can become a little greasy due to the oil extracts but it is easily wiped away with water.

If you are looking for an all natural alternative to your high powered cleaners, this is the way to go! For $6.95 it is also nicely priced!

Green Toys | Safe Toys for Kids and the Environment

Green Toys | Safe Toys for Kids and the Environment

Graham won't drink milk, but now he will play with it...let me explain.

I was introduced to Green Toys at a birthday party this summer. We all watched as this little 2 year old opened up gift after Thomas the Train gift, until this adorable little guy appeared! It was the most precious dump truck I think I have ever laid eyes on! The entire birthday crowed oohed and ahhed over this truck! Of course, the woman who had purchased it started to go into detail over the fact that it was made completely out of recycled material. I was more than impressed!

Green Toys is a company at the top of their class! Truly, every single one of their products are crafted in such a way that it makes you want to take it home with you! I could own the entire line! The colors are subtle but fun and the quality of the Dump Truck toy we reviewed is superb! Even better, their products are 100% made in the USA from a state known for strict environmental laws, California. All products are created from recycled milk jugs made from high-density polyethylene (clean, safe plastic).

Graham loves to take his Dump Truck out side to play in the dirt. He has several toy excavators (idea for a new toy Green Toy peeps.. hint, hint!) that he uses to scoop up rocks and then dump into the bed of the truck. Once he has it filled to capacity, he dumps it out! I love that this Dump Truck actually works. It is even cooler to think about the fact that it is made from 100% recycled plastic milk jugs. There are no metal axles to worry with either.

I would definitely purchase this Dump Truck for friends or family. This would make a unique birthday present for some lucky kid! Find a Green Toys retailer near you!

Simple Shoes. Earth Friendly for Toddlers Review and Coupon Code!

Simple Shoes. Earth Friendly for Toddlers Review and Coupon Code!

"I think we have a new favorite shoe," is what my husband said when he opened the box to these new shoes by Simple. I could not agree more with him! First of all, they are absolutely adorable! Secondly, they are extremely soft and flexible (what all growing feet need). And last but not least, they are completely eco-friendly!

We had the opportunity to review the Doodle Simple Shoe. I loved how this shoe slipped right on with ease. Anyone with an active toddler knows that this is an extremely important feature! I also am in awe over the certified organic cotton fleece lining! Graham immediately put them on and cried at night when it was time for us to take them off. He wanted to wear them to bed! The outside is created from eco-friendly suede and is completely washable! Are you serious? Thank you Simple Shoes for listening to moms!

Here is the run down of the key features:
  • Washable suede
  • Soft, certified organic fleece lining
  • Soles are natural non-marking rubber
  • Recycled PET and natural elastic laces (pull toggle....sanity SAVER!)
  • Extremely flexible (good for growing feet)
  • Adorable!
  • WARNING: Your toddler may not want to remove them!
I also am very proud to support the Simple Shoe company because of what they stand for. Even the shoe forms and box for the shoes come in post-consumer recycled paper, soy-based printing ink, and natural latex and starch based glue. Each shoe size also has a different animal represented on the box! Graham is in a size 8 (I know, big foot for such a little boy) and his had an adorable elephant!

Simple also has two other new toddler styles: the Noodle and the Poodle! The Poodle is my absolute favorite for a little girl. I love the Mary Jane look and the adorable prints.

I honestly can say that these shoes are my new favorite! I rest easy knowing that my son is wearing a shoe that is not only safe for his foot, but that it is safe for the Earth that he is going to inherit one day! At $38, the Doodle shoe price compares equally to most other quality toddler foot wear.

New Wave Enviro: Eco-Friendly Products!

New Wave Enviro: Eco-Friendly Products!

One of the great things about saving the environment, is that it can also save your money. If you are an avid reader of Go Graham Go, you already know that our family has been trying to cut costs as much as possible (I spent $47.50 at the grocery store last week). I know I talk about it a lot, but I think it really is an important key to saving! When you start adding up the money you would spend on plastic baggies, juice boxes, paper bags, napkins, plastic utensils, and more it really adds up over the year!

New Wave Enviro was created in 1994 before the whole "going green" trend started. The company realized that there needed to be a safer alternative to water (chlorine-free) that you could receive on demand. They also understand that consumers are becoming more health conscious and appreciate the benefits of certain materials such as stainless steel and bamboo. I had the opportunity to sample three popular items created by New Wave Enviro: the 100% Bamboo Lunch bag (suggested retail $21.99), stainless steel food container (suggested retail $14.99), and 12-ounce stainless steel bottle (suggested retail $11.95).

Of course, the stainless steel bottle and steel food container are great because they do not leach chemicals into food or water. They are both reusable forever (stainless steel is pretty tough!) and they both fit great in a lunch box or even my purse for that matter.

My favorite item by far is the 100% Bamboo Lunch Box! I am a complete Germ-a-phobe so this lunch box is PERFECT for me! Did you know that bamboo naturally resists bacteria and is hypoallergenic? This bag is seriously soft and extremely light! You wouldn't expect something made out of bamboo to be durable, but this thing is tough! Evidently, bamboo has a tensile strength comparable to steel! We have taken it to the pool and various other places. When school starts up I will be taking this to work with me!

New Wave Enviro also has water filters, items for your pets and more! Locate a store near you (US or Canada).

Happy Green Bee | Organic Kids Clothing and Accessories

Happy Green Bee | Organic Kids Clothing and Accessories

How many of you are familiar with Burt's Bees products? Most of you are probably the owners of a tube or two of their wonderful lip balm at least. Happy Green Bee was actually founded by the same person who helped found Burt's Bees! Roxanne Quimby decided to create a line of kids clothing that was simple, colorful, and organic. Happy Green Bee does what I love, it allows kids to be kids! Thank you!

Graham had the opportunity to try out the tank top and board shorts in blueberry sky. I love the vivid colors and classic feel of this outfit. The organic cotton makes this outfit super soft and breathable! These will be adorable for the pool, beach, or just hanging around outside this summer.

I don't have a little girl, but you must check out the adorable Petal Dresses if you do! The skirt is just right for spinning and the colors again, are so much fun! A little girl can look like a little girl! Imagine that! The sock hats would be precious on a little bald baby head!

Happy Green Bee also offers adorable organic dolls that are perfect for snuggling as well as a Mom's On The Go Kit filled with wonderful samples of their nursery favorites!
