Making Room for Baby #2! Storage Ideas.

Making Room for Baby #2! Storage Ideas.

With baby number two on the way and limited space in our house, we are coming up with some creative solutions.  Of course, we have been through the closets and have sent things to Goodwill as well as sold several things on Craig's List.  There have also been many things that we have thrown out!  As I come across different ideas I will definitely share them with you.

Photobucket

Here is a great idea for storage that came from CSN stores.  They sent this Badger Basket Shelf Storage Unit for review.  I am extremely thrilled about this because not only is it a bookshelf for the tremendous amounts of childrens books we own, but it even has storage underneath.  This shelf storage unit will be great with maybe a couple of baskets underneath for storing smaller toys and odds and ends.  I also think it will be useful for storing larger, floor type toys without using baskets at all.  Just push them underneath and out of the way!  We already use the collapsible storage bins below the changing table.  You can see my post on how we had Graham's nursery set up for storage as well.

If you are looking for storage options, cribs, or other baby related items you can check out one of CSN stores called Baby Cribs Plus.  I have literally spent hours on that site browsing through baby stuff!

What are your creative storage solution?  I really could use the help!

CSN stores provided this shelf for review. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

Father's Day Gift Idea: Gladiator Claw Advanced Bike Storage

One of our favorite things to do together as a family is to ride bikes.  Now, my husband is WAY more into biking than myself or Graham and he also happens to be the one in the family who cares for our bikes.  It doesn't take long to accumulate several bikes when you have a growing family and if you are already limited on space (like us) that can become a problem!

See it in Action:

Gladiator GarageWorks makes a sanity and back saving storage tool for all types of bikes that your biking dad or husband is going to love!  We were sent the Gladiator Claw Advanced Bike Storage v.1.0 to try out with our bikes and storage space.  Once my husband found a good location for the Claw (we have a slopped roof on our storage building) he had it up and it was ready for use.  It is so simple that you can put your bike away one handed.  Before the Gladiator Claw, my husband was straining his bike to place it up on a few different hooks on the ceiling.  Now all he has to do is touch the bicycle tire to the center piece of the claw and it closes around the wheel.  To get it back down he simply pushes up on the bike and the claw releases.  The total weight capacity for the Gladiator Claw is 50 pounds which makes it great for storing most bikes.  You also do not have to worry about this device scratching your bike thanks to the thermoplastic rubber edges surrounding the Claw.  You can purchase the Gladiator Claw Advanced Bike Storage v.1.0 for about $44.99.

Have a dad that is not into biking?  How about the Gladiator Fishing Pole Holder or Golf Caddy?  I know my husband would appreciate both!

This product was provided free of charge by Gladiator GarageWorks. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

BabyBjorn Travel Crib Light

BabyBjorn Travel Crib Light

One thing you are going to need as a new mom is a travel crib.  We have used ours on so many different occasions that it easily paid for itself within the first few months.  There were two things that were hard about it, the amount of room it took up and the weight.  I recently had the opportunity to try out the BabyBjorn Travel Crib Light which, I believe, should be on every mother's wish list.

This crib is so simple that it comes already assembled.  I remember my husband getting frustrated putting together our other travel crib.  The BabyBjorn Travel Light Crib was ready to go as soon as I pulled it out of the box!  The crib only weighs 11 pounds which makes it super easy to carry upstairs or lug along in a big hotel.  It comes with it's own carrying case that it conveniently folds into.  The BabyBjorn Travel Light Crib, when folded and in it's case, looks like you are carrying a bag.  You can put it over your shoulder and hit the road!

See it in Action:

The other part of our last travel crib that was tricky was putting it up and taking it down.  After a few times, we got the hang of it, but it was always hard for others to operate it.  The BabyBjorn Travel Light Crib can be opened in basically one movement.  I was able to set it up by myself as soon as I opened the box.  The travel crib was literally out of the box and set up in our living room in about 5 minutes!

Check out the BabyBjorn Travel Light Crib Competition!

Parents are also going to love that the fabric is completely machine washable (mattress cover and bed fabric).  Honestly, I don't know why a company would manufacture a baby product that is not machine washable!  It just makes sense.  The mattress pad is nice and thick which makes it comfy for babies.  The BabyBjorn Travel Light Crib is available in Blue and Silver (Silver is not available in Canada) and retails for about $279.99.  This crib is great for newborns all the way up to about 3 years old.

This product was provided free of charge by BabyBjorn. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.

Hold it Baby! It\

Hold it Baby! It's Sanity on a String.

I'll be the first to admit--we live by the 5-second rule in our household (and, in most cases, it is more like the 55-second rule!). We are constantly on the go, be it in a jogging stroller, the car, or a shopping cart, Catherine and her toys and food gets carted everywhere. More often than not, I'll spend a large portion of time stooping to pick up a dropped toy or food/drink container.

That all changed in an instant when I received the On-the-Go Toy Organizer from Hold it Baby.

At first, I thought this organizer would be a nice supplement to my routine. After using it for the past week, though, I've realized it is an irreplaceable part of my daily life!

Gone are the days when I'd constantly worry if something was going to fall out of the jogger as I ran through the streets of Atlanta. Gone are the moments of questioning whether or not that sippy cup had been on the floor too long. Gone are the scary situations in the car where I'd be driving while simultaneously searching for a discarded toy in the back seat (DON'T try that while driving!).

With the Hold it Baby On-the-Go Toy Organizer I know that Catherine's toys will stay in the jogger, her sippy cup won't fall on the floor while we are eating and her toys will stay within HER reach in the carseat.

The best moment while using this toy organizer came when my lovely 15-month old daughter attempted to throw a toy out of her jogger in a sudden fit of frustration. I could only laugh, knowing that, despite her best efforts, that toy wasn't going to land on the ground as we ran past it! Thank you On-the-Go Toy Organizer for even stopping a tantrum!

Review:

The On-the-Go Toy Organizer is a series of lanyards, loops and clips that help keep your child's toys, food cups, and sippies attached and tethered to something stable (like your car seat, stroller, or high chair).

It can hold up to 6 items at once like:
  • books
  • sippy cups
  • food cups
  • utensils
  • stuffed animals
  • snack bags
It is also non-toxic, safety tested, and CPSIA compliant

Verdict:

I truly loved this "sanity saving" product! We used the Hold it Baby On-the-Go Toy Organizer for a week to get a really good feel for it and, by the end of the week, I would never go back to not using it. Check out everything that we put on our organizer (we may have gone a little overboard but i wanted the most bang for my buck!):

One of my favorite features is that you can attach a book to the organizer and it will still be readable! For months i've tried to figure out how to get a book to stay in her stroller and this is the perfect solution!

Not quite convinced? Make sure you watch this fun youtube video:

Purchase:

The Hold it Baby On-the-Go Toy Organizer is available exclusively online for $29.95. Both domestic as well as international shipping and handling will cost you $5. You can buy it here.

Musical Toy Box by Levels of Discovery

Musical Toy Box by Levels of Discovery

Our living room overfloweth! Yes, it is busting at the seems with Hot Wheels, puzzles, trucks, tractors, and Legos! I purchased one of those big blue tubs with handles for storage from Target, but not only is it unattractive in our living room, but, it doesn't really hold that much. When I stumbled across the Musical Toy Box by Levels of Discovery I fell in love!

This beautiful toy box is much more than just a storage center. It can be used as a bench or your very own one man band! That's right...there are instruments built in! The center of the bench has an 8 note xylophone with 2 mallets built in. There are also two spinning bell drums on either side. The Musical Toy Box is equipped with the slow closing safety hinge. This is a great feature when you have a toddler who likes to occasionally climb in and out! No little hands or heads will be smashed in this cute toy box!

Another key feature that I am impressed with is the fact that it fits all of the toys we had in the big blue bin and more! Looks are deceiving on this toy box! It is large enough to fit what you need it to fit, but not so big that it takes over the room. I am also a huge fan of the color scheme. It is very gender neutral and would be great in a shared space for a boy and a girl. It would look perfect under a bedroom or play room window to double as a window seat. Assembly is fairly easy. It took my husband about 15-20 minutes to put it all together.

See it in Action:

The Musical Toy Box is retailing on Amazon for about $169.95. You can also find a retailer near you. When you are talking about the best bang for your buck I say that this definitely qualifies. It is a well made wooden toy box that is extremely versatile. This will be great for handing down!

KOKU all-in-one Cutting Board

KOKU all-in-one Cutting Board

My kitchen has been a source of frustration for a while. There are just too many gadgets and not enough room! The KOKU takes several kitchen gadgets and combines them into one! Halleluijah... there is now extra space in my "kitchen gadget" drawer!

The KOKU has a 2 sided cutting board. One side is flat and the other catches the juice from your foods. Another bonus I found that is not advertised is that the groove holds foods that roll away from you! There are three graters to choose from that drop your food into the drawer below. You can then measure your food in the convenient sections in the drawer! It is also dishwasher safe.

I am not very kitchen savvy so I love this! Anything that makes life easier in the kitchen is such a treat for me!

The KOKU was designed by an industrial designer, Joe Casale, who was chopping vegetables one day and decided that there had to be a better way to cut, sort and measure food. Joe came up with the concept and took it to the Everyday Edisons Team!

The KOKU retails at $39.99 which is a great deal for so many kitchen utensils in one! Go Graham Go readers can enjoy 1/2 off with coupon code: gograhamgo.

Storage Solutions for Baby Stuff!

Storage Solutions for Baby Stuff!

Anyone with kids knows that storage and organization is essential when it comes to saving your time, energy, and mind! Here are a few things that help me out in the storage/organization department!

First of all, we decided to go with these Real Organized Cube Storage Bins! They are only $5.98 at Lowe's! We used them to fill the space underneath the changing table. What I love about this idea is that when Graham is older we can simply build cube storage units (or you can buy them) to put these bad boys in! The best bang for your buck! We currently have toys, extra wipes, and shoes filling these. Another bonus is that they fold flat, again, saving you room!

I also am so glad I picked up this Prince Lionheart Diaper Depot before Graham was born. This thing has been a total life saver! It hooks on to the side of your changing table so that everything is at your fingertips! Those diaper stackers only hold..well...diapers and they are so low to the ground that you have to keep one hand on baby while bending down to grab your diaper. Then you have to bend down under the table to get the wipes...etc. The Diaper Depot stores the wipes directly on top and there is even storage on the sides for your creams, lotions, thermometer, or even toys! You can pick this up for about $12.99 at Babies R Us.

Check out this space saving swing and hook-on chair for more storage/organization solutions! Looking for a way to store your stroller? This is the best way I have found!

Also, Go Graham Go has coupon codes for Applied Labels! These definitely help make life easier when it comes to organization!

Chicco Hippo Hook-on Chair: Video Review

Chicco Hippo Hook-on Chair: Video Review

We have a huge standard high chair in our dinning room. It works ok, but it does take up a ton of room. We purchased the Chicco Hippo Hook-on Chair because we didn't know what to do on vacation! The rental house did not come with a high chair. I searched and searched for which chair would be the most compact and work in the most situations. This chair won! The Chicco Hippo Hook-on Chair can be taken apart for travel or simply folded down flat. It even comes with its own carrying case! A bonus about this chair is that it works in booths at restaurants. You can have your child right beside you instead of out where everyone is walking and carrying trays of hot food! Because it folds almost completely flat you can take it anywhere!

See it in action with my husband demonstrating (and some fun "hippo" music)!
